Round 13 is behind us and it was packed with exciting games! An origin depleted Broncos side shocked the Warriors away thanks to an outstanding performance from Tristan Sailor while the Raiders grinded out a tough win against the Rabbitohs. Now onto round 14 and the big question is who will back up from origin? Stay tuned for our opinion as we try to find value across all 7 games.
NRL 2023 Round 14
Tigers vs Raiders
Kicking off the round we have the Tigers hosting the Raiders. The Raiders are coming off a 7-point victory away to the Rabbitohs last week while the Tigers should be well rested after the bye. Although the Tigers sit in 15th spot on the ladder, they have been in great form, with all 3 of their wins coming in their last 4 games. The Raiders have won 6 of their last 7.
In recent history the Raiders have dominated this fixture, winning the past 5 encounters. While the Tigers have been in good form, there is no doubt that the Raiders are the better side. Additionally, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Api Koirsau rested, as this game is just 2 days after Origin, where he should play close to if not 80 minutes. I think the Raiders take this one.

Warriors vs Dolphins
Our first game on Saturday sees the Warriors hosting the Dolphins. The Warriors are coming off a poor performance, losing to a depleted Broncos side, while the Dolphins are coming off a 14-point win against the Dragons. This is the first meeting of these two sides, and it should be a close one. The Warriors are in poor form coming into this one, losing 4 of their last 5 while the Dolphins have won 3 of their last 5 and sit in 6th spot.
I am expecting both Tabuai-Fidow and Gilbert to back up from Origin and if they do, I can see them beating this suffering Warriors side. Egan will be racing against the clock to return from a calf injury and with Freddy Lussick failing an HIA last week and Jazz Tevaga out with a leg injury, they could be without their first 3 choices at hooker. This adds to an already extensive injury list which has taken its toll on the Warriors lately. In New Zealand, this one should be a close game but I can definitely see a Dolphins upset.

Titans vs Rabbitohs
Our second game of Saturday sees the Titans hosting the Rabbitohs. The Rabbitohs suffered a tough loss to the Raiders, slipping down to 6th place after leading the competition a few weeks ago, while the Titans had the bye, giving them a much-needed rest after losing their last 2 games. The big news here is that Latrell Mitchell has injured his calf and will miss Origin and you would assume he won’t be playing on Saturday. The real question here is do Fifita, Tino, Murray and Arrow back up and will Campbell Graham play? I think they all will yet likely play reduced minutes here for all but Graham.
The Rabbitohs without Latrell are a completely different side yet still have the firepower of Cody Walker, who is replicating his 2021 season, racking up 18 try assists and 22 line break assists in just 13 games! Once again, I think this one will be a close affair, but I think there will be lots of points up for grabs, with both sides averaging over 23 points scored per game.

Sharks vs Broncos
Our final game of Super Saturday sees the Sharks hosting the Broncos. Both sides have been in fine form this year, with the Sharks sitting in 2nd place while the Broncos sit in 3rd place. The Broncos have a host of stars playing State of Origin this week and I expect a rest or reduced minutes for most. On the other hand, the Sharks only have Nicho Hynes playing off the bench, which should leave him fit to play 80 minutes on Saturday night.
When both fully fit this is a heavyweight clash, however, I think Broncos will be battered and bruised due to State of Origin, giving the Sharks a relatively comfortable win in front of their home fans.

Roosters vs Bulldogs
Kicking off a triple header on Sunday we have the Roosters hosting the Bulldogs in Gosford. Both these sides have underperformed this season, with the Roosters sitting in 10th position while the Bulldogs are 14th. Both sides are also impacted heavily by injury and suspension, with the Roosters missing Sam Walker, Brandon Smith and Victor Radley but are hoping to welcome back Kiwi pair Joey Manu and JWH. The Bulldogs will be hoping Pangai Junior and Addo-Carr back up from Origin as will the Roosters with James Tedesco and Lindsay Collins.
While they have been poor this season, I think the Roosters are the far better outfit here and if they can have discipline in defense, not giving away too many sinbins, they should be too good here. The Roosters have struggled to score points, but the Bulldogs have conceded the 4th most points in the competition, and I am expecting a big performance from James Tedesco to get the Roosters over the line here.

Cowboys vs Storm
Our second game on Sunday sees the Cowboys hosting the Storm. The Cowboys put up a good fight last week while missing troops against the Eels but fell short, moving them down to an embarrassing 16th position while the 4th place Storm had the bye. The Cowboys should have Origin stars Holmes, Taulagi, Cotter and 18th man Dearden fit after a 4-day rest and will welcome back Nanai from suspension as well as hopefully Taumalolo from injury. The Storm should be close to full strength, with only Munster and Grant playing origin and both are expected to back up.
The Storm have absolutely dominated this fixture, winning 14 of the last 15 encounters. While the Cowboys are undoubtedly improved on paper in comparison to recent weeks, the Storm are the better outfit here and will be far better rested. I expect them to win this game yet think the Cowboys can put up a good fight, finally having a lot of their troops back from injury who they have missed in recent weeks.

Panthers vs Dragons
Our final game of the round sees the Panthers hosting the Dragons. This Panthers have been in great form, winning 3 in a row and sitting on top of the ladder after a slow start to the season, while the Dragons are struggling, sitting in last spot. The Panthers are no doubt the better side, but the question is will Ivan Cleary rest his players? The Panthers have To’o, Crichton, Luai, Cleary, Yeo and Martin all playing Origin and even though they play on Sunday it would not surprise me to see one or two of them rested, especially with rumors surrounding Nathan Cleary of an infected tooth. On the other hand, the Dragons only have Ben Hunt playing Origin and with their current ladder position I expect him to play.
While the Dragons have been poor this year, they are unlucky to be on bottom, losing 6/6 games that have been decided by 6 points or less. I think it is worth taking the punt that the Panthers will rest some players here and although I don’t think they will win, the line seems overs to me on the Dragons.
