Round 20 is in the books and what a round it was! The Cowboys beat the Sea Eagles, the Storm walked over the Roosters and the Warriors thrashed the Sharks. We were so close to making it 2 wins in a row for our multi of the week, but sadly the Sharks were unable to keep it close. We are back this week with MyBettingAustralia’s NRL Multi of the week and we have found some value across Betting Sites on the Roosters, Knights and Sharks.
NRL Best Tips and Multi Bet of the Weekend | Round 21
Gold Coast Titans vs Sydney Roosters
July 22nd 15:00, Cbus Super Stadium
For our first leg of the multi of the week, we look to the Titans hosting the Roosters. Both sides have had similar seasons, sitting on 20 competition points after 17 games played. The Titans are going to be a far weaker side than usual, with star prop Tino Fa'asuamaleaui facing a stint on the sidelines for a shoulder charge. Tino has been the heart and soul of this Titans team, running for almost 160m per game and making almost 35 tackles a game. Tino is one of the most damaging forwards in the game and the Titans will certainly miss him. The Roosters will be welcoming back James Tedesco and potentially Sam Walker, allowing them to have Tedesco, Manu, Keary and Brandon Smith on the field together for the first time in a long time.
The Roosters looked a lot better in attack despite their loss to Melbourne, creating an impressive 8 linebreaks. With James Tedesco backing up through the middle, I expect more of these to be converted into tries next week. If the Roosters can complete at a decent rate and reduce their errors, they can compete with the best. With the Roosters only getting stronger as they welcome players back from injury, while the Titans lose one of their best players, I have to take the Roosters to win @1.70 on PlayUp.
Newcastle Knights vs Melbourne Storm
July 22nd, 17:35, McDonald Jones Stadium
For our second leg of the multi of the week, we look at the Knights hosting the Storm. Both sides are coming off impressive wins last week and will look to extend their winning streaks to 3 and 2 games respectively. The Knights made a mid-season adjustment, moving Ponga from five-eighth to fullback and it has completely transformed their side. In 6 games since the move, they are 3-3, losing by 4 points to the Broncos, 2 points to the Roosters and 8 points to the Panthers, all very respectable defeats. Their 3 wins have been by a combined 92 points! Ponga at fullback is a constant threat, being involved in 20 linebreaks in just 6 games.
While the Storm are the better outfit here, they have shown weakness in defence. They conceded 8 linebreaks to the Roosters last week. I think the Knights will come in with strong belief in their new look side, combined with the boost of confidence for players like Best and Saifiti after playing Origin and in front of a home crowd. That’s why I am taking the Knights +12.5 @1.60 on Bet365.
Cronulla Sharks vs Manly Sea Eagles
July 23rd, 14:05, PointsBet Stadium
For our final leg of the multi we see the Sharks hosting the Sea Eagles. The Sea Eagles are coming off an 11-point loss to the Cowboys, continuing their difficult season, while the Sharks were thrashed by the Warriors, raising concerns over the ability to stay in the top 8. The Sharks have a tremendous ability to beat sides outside the top 8 yet cannot beat teams inside the top 8. This season, the only game they won against a top 8 side came back in round 2 against the Eels. The Sharks have the best attack in the competition by points scored, scoring over 27 points per game!
This attack should be firing against a weakened Manly side, without Tom Trbojevic. Manly are 1-6 this season without Tom and I see no reason for this to change. The Sharks love to blowout weaker sides, shifting the ball early and often, attacking with evert set. If the Sharks get going, this could be a long night for Manly fans and that is why I am taking the Sharks to win @1.37 on PlayUp.
