Round 27 is in the books and onto finals footy. Last week we the Storm surprised the Broncos, while the Dolphins won their last game of the season comfortably and the Titans edged the Bulldogs. Our first leg of the multi of the week was Wabrick to score who was a late out, but his replacement Anderson did score and the rest of the multi got up! This week we are backing the Broncos, Panthers and the Roosters vs Sharks game to be a close one.
NRL Multi bet of the Weekend | Finals Week 1
Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm
September 8th, 19:50, Suncorp Stadium
The Broncos and the Storm face off in a rematch of last week, but with far bigger implications this week. The winner of this match will have the week off next week and will be straight into the semifinals, just 2 wins away from winning the whole competition. While the Storm did edge the Broncos last week, both sides were significantly undermanned and will be welcoming back troops. Most notably for the Broncos are Reynolds and Carrigan who were out injured and will provide a great boost to this side.
The Broncos have looked electric in attack on the back of Walsh, Mam and Reynolds, scoring 617 points this season. What has impressed me even more is their defensive resilience, conceding just 393 points all season. At home with all their troops back, I think the Broncos are a better side than Melbourne who are trying to find out where Papenhuyzen fits into the equation. That’s why I am taking the Broncos to win @1.62 on TopSport.
Penrith Panthers vs New Zealand Warriors
September 9th, 16:05, BlueBet Stadium
For our second leg of the multi of the week, we look to the Panthers hosting the Warriors. There were significant doubts about the Panthers, after losing 32-18 at home to the Eels and losing Luai to injury, yet they bounced back, demolishing a desperate Cowboys side 44-12. The Warriors on the other hand lost to the Dolphins convincingly, although they gave a lot of their players a hard-earned rest. The Panthers have shown over the last 3 seasons that they are the team to beat, looking to claim their 3rd premiership in a row. At home in the finals they are almost impossible to beat and it will be a tall order for the Warriors.
While the Warriors have played great this season, they are going to need to play the game of their lives to win this one. The Warriors are without Metcalf and in the reverse fixture in New Zealand, the Panthers were comfortable victors. With a 35% win rate at BlueBet stadium, coming up against a Panthers side playing like they did last week, I see this one being quite routine for the Panthers. That’s why I am taking the Panthers to win both halves @1.95 on Bet365.
Cronulla Sharks vs Sydney Roosters
September 9th, 19:50, PointsBet Stadium
For our last leg of the multi of the week, we look to the Sharks hosting the Roosters. The Sharks found some late season form to make it into the finals with ease, with many doubting the Sharks after their losses to the Panthers, Sea Eagles and Warriors in a row. The Roosters on the other hand did the impossible, winning their last 5 games to somehow make the finals in a season where almost everyone had written them off. The Roosters have found great form, particularly Tedesco, Keary, Manu and Suaalii who are looking as dangerous as ever. The Roosters also welcomed back Sam Walker into the side who was amazing against the Rabbitohs last week.
The Sharks are sweating on the fitness of Connor Tracey, who has done an incredible job at filling the void left at fullback by Will Kennedy. If he is to be out, the Sharks may have to resort to Hynes playing fullback as 3rd choice Kade Dykes is also out. At PointsBet Stadium, this one won’t be an easy one for the Roosters, but they are in great form and I think this one is bound to be close. That’s why I am taking either team by 1-12 @1.65 on Bet365.
