NRL 2024 Round 10

Another big week of NRL footy is right upon us. Title hopefuls Cronulla Sharks and Melbourne Storm are set to lock horns, while the Broncos will eye a return to winning ways when they visit Parramatta. The Rabbitohs will also be looking to recover after a horrendous start to 2024. How will round 10 unfold? We dissect each of the NRL matches coming up this week, using the latest odds from betting sites for our predictions.

Redcliffe Dolphins vs Manly Sea Eagles

Both the Dolphins and Sea Eagles were involved in tight clashes in their last NRL fixtures, but their fortunes diverged. While the red and gold prevailed over North Queensland in a close 28-26 encounter, Daly Cherry-Evans and his team squandered an 18-point lead against the Raiders to suffer their first defeat in five weeks.

Ahead of their Thursday night battle at the Suncorp Stadium, these sides have only one head-to-match to look back upon. While the Sea Eagles dominated that game, the Dolphins have looked particularly impressive this season. Playing with all the momentum plus a big home crowd, we expect they’ll be able to steal this one and and should be able to grind out a victory over Manly.

Penrith Panthers vs Canterbury Bulldogs

The Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs will face off in the first match of Friday night. In recent years, this has been an easy fixture for the Panthers, with Penrith having won each of the last six matches played between these two sides. The Panthers also come into this tie fresh off a dominant win against the Rabbitohs. So, is it going to be another win for the Mountain Men in this New South Wales derby? Ah, yes. It should be.

That said, the Bulldogs might give the home side a few headaches. Players like Stephen Crichton and Matt Burton will be keen to impress against their former employers, so we expect another spirited NRL thriller that will be decided by a narrow margin. We say a 1-12 victory for the Panthers.

Parramatta Eels vs Brisbane Broncos

In the second of Friday night’s matches, the Eels and Broncos clash in a must-win for both sides. The hosts enjoyed a one-week break following their disappointing loss to the Sea Eagles. Brad Arthur's men have struggled to maintain consistent performance throughout matches this season, which has proven costly. They cannot afford another lacklustre display again this weekend.

The Broncos, meanwhile, endured a brutal night against the Roosters last week, losing heavily. Despite this, betting apps are still heavily backing them to return with a win from the CommBank Stadium. It’ll be a tough ask with Adam Reynolds ruled out for six months due to a biceps injury, Jock but we agree that the Broncos should have enough firepower to see off the Eels. However, expect the hosts to cover the +8.5 spread.

Wests Tigers vs Newcastle Knights

Inspired by their gritty win over the Warriors in a rain-soaked clash, the Newcastle Knights are set to face the Wests Tigers on Super Saturday. Their opponents have stumbled recently, after some initial positive signs this season, losing their last five matches on the bounce. While the Tigers have been playing decent footy lately, they simply haven't managed to turn this into wins.

The Knights have traditionally held the upper hand in this head-to-head. However, their away form this season suggests a potential upset could be on the cards. Api Koroisau's potential return would be a massive boost for the Tigers as well. Should he make it onto the field, we’re optimistic about a Tigers’ victory to snap their losing streak.

St. George-Illawarra Dragons vs South Sydney Rabbitohs

Ben Hornby, the new interim Rabbitohs coach, couldn't exorcise the team's familiar demons last week. Now, they face a Dragons side hungry for redemption after a rough two weeks. This promises to be a thrilling battle between two teams desperate to turn the tide.

It's not easy to back the Rabbitohs at the moment. They have been abysmal thus far and now go to the Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, where they’ve won in only three out of their last nine visits. That said, the Rabbitohs put on a convincing display before a late collapse against the Panthers. A bit more consistent effort can take the Rabbitohs over the line against a struggling Dragons unit. We expect that’s exactly what the bunnies will deliver on Saturday evening for their second win of the year.

Melbourne Storm vs Cronulla Sharks

It's a clash of the titans at AAMI Park this Saturday night! The Sharks and Storm go head-to-head for top spot on the ladder and bragging rights in what promises to be a cracker of a showdown.

With both teams neck and neck, the Sharks hold a significant advantage heading into Saturday's clash. The Storm are without their first-choice fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen, and his natural replacement, Sua Fa'alogo, also has a question mark.

The Sharks, on the contrary, will come to Melbourne with a full-strength squad. As a result, we’re picking Craig Fitzgibbon's side to come out of the Storm unscathed. Bet on a tight Shark’s victory as Cronulla well and truly announce themselves as title contenders in 2024.

Sydney Roosters vs New Zealand Warriors

After entering the season as title hopefuls, the Warriors have fallen on hard times. Their last victory was against the Rabbitohs in round five, and their premiership dreams seem to be fading faster than the summer sun in New Zealand.

The Roosters, on the other hand, have been on fire in the past fortnight. They amassed a staggering 60 points against the Dragons on ANZAC Day, before dismantling the Broncos with a dominant victory at Suncorp Stadium most recently.

Under the present circumstances, the Roosters seem set to add to the Warriors' woes. We expect the home side to win, but the Warriors should be able to cover the +11.5 spread TopSport has put between the sides.

Gold Coast Titans vs North Queensland Cowboys

After both sides were left gutted by two-point losses last week, the Titans and Cowboys will square off in the final match of round 10. This should be nothing less than a tight and tense encounter as both will be determined to steady the ship and get another win on the board.

Despite the home ground advantage, the Titans will step into the PointsBet Stadium on Sunday night as the underdogs. We see good value in the home side, however, as they have been improving over the weeks, coming within inches of defeating the Storm last weekend. Back the Titans to grab another victory on Sunday, and continue their resurrection story in 2024.
