NRL Best Tips and Multi Bet of the Weekend | Round 6

Early season rust has gone now, and we’re well and truly into the meat of the 2024 NRL. April 12th, 19:00 AEDT, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Last Thursday night saw the Melbourne Storm squeak home in a cracker of a match against the Brisbane Broncos. This round, they’ve got what should be a much easier prospect in the Canterbury Bulldogs at home. NRL betting sites have the Storm as huge favourites to prevail, and for good reason. 

The Storm have looked sharp this year, with wins over the Panthers and Broncos already. The Bulldogs, while sitting on four points after five rounds, are still the Bulldogs. They may have edged out the Roosters last weekend, but they still looked fairly patchy when faced with only 11 men for a good chunk of the game. Expect Melbourne to romp home here, and back them 13+ at bookmaker bet365. 

April 12th, 21:00 AEDT, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane 

In the second leg of both our multi bet and Friday night’s double header, it’s a local derby in Brisbane. The Broncos take on little brother the Dolphins in what will be a tantalising encounter. This time last year the two met at a similar stage of the season, with Redcliffe having also got off to a good start in 2023. 

We say it’ll be déjà vu again on Friday. The Dolphins have been strong this last month, but already, injuries are mounting. Brisbane will be laser focused after the disappointment of last week’s loss to Melbourne and should win this one with a moderate degree of comfort. Take them to cover the spread. 

April 13th, 16:00 AEDT, Mount Smart Stadium, Auckland 

Saturday night sees the New Zealand Warriors host the Manly Sea Eagles in Auckland. Manly impressed last week when they piled on the points against Penrith, as did the Warriors against the Rabbitohs.  

We say playing in front of a home crowd, New Zealand will be too strong. Remember that the Sea Eagles lost to the Dragons less than a fortnight ago, so one win over the Panthers doesn’t suddenly make them a good side. The Warriors have three wins in a row and are getting better each week—back them to also cover the handicap in round six.
