Last week delivered another adrenaline-charged dose of footy to NRL fans. Can we expect the same this week? Here are our betting tips for NRL round 11.
While the AFL is the go-to winter sport around large parts of Australia, in New South Wales and Queensland, the NRL is the king of the colder months. Having been around in some way, shape or form for over 100 years, this is the biggest rugby league competition in the world, and captures the attention of virtually the entirety of the nation’s north-east for around six months each and every year.
Unsurprisingly, NRL betting is a popular pastime for punters, particularly in those northeastern states. Primarily this centres around markets popular with many sports such as head-to-head and total match points – markets that are available with all NRL betting sites – but if you shop around you can find plenty more, too, including a wide range of player props, such as Player X to score a try.
At MyBettingAustralia, we have a strong focus on the NRL, and put out plenty of content for you to consume. On this page, we will walk you through what it is we offer, the expertise of our NRL tipsters, and how you can benefit from our NRL betting tips. Read on to find out more.
Each and every week, we put out multiple pieces of NRL-related content for NRL fans to dive into. It starts with a detailed analysis and expert NRL tips for every single game over the course of the weekend, with our resident tipsters summarising their thoughts on each game over the round before providing a few tips.
You will also find NRL multi tips coming out well in advance of the first game of the round. These hone in on three specific markets which we think provide good value if you combine them together to create a single NRL multi for the weekend’s action.
But NRL tips are not all that you will find on the site. We also provide detailed analysis and insights about the league in general, putting together a recap of each and every round throughout the course of the season, as well as a news article every week which touches on some of the biggest topics going on in the world of NRL.
So whether you are looking specifically for NRL tips and predictions, or just some general analysis of the league, then you have come to the right place.
Our NRL tipsters are big time NRL fans – the kind of people who spend their weekend glued to their television watching as many games as they possibly can. These guys have a lifetime of experience following the NRL, though as we well know, that does not necessarily translate to success when it comes to betting.
Fortunately, our tipsters also have plenty of success trying to beat the bookie. That does not mean that they are always successful – not by any means. Anyone claiming that they can win you money every single time is flat out lying. But by combining their swathes of rugby league knowledge with a whole lot of research, they can at least give us a fighter’s chance of getting up in the longer term.
This is far from easy. NRL is a really popular sport for punters, so unsurprisingly, plenty of work goes into creating odds on the part of the betting sites. And their odds are the product of years and years of experience, a lot of very clever people and some even more clever computers.
But that does not mean statistical edges do not exist. Our experts factor in a whole lot of different information to create our NRL tips, filtering out the data that we think is relevant and honing in on what we think is important. Below, you can read more about the various factors that we consider prior to making our NRL tips and predictions.
There is a lot that goes into the development of our expert NRL tips, and these are some of the most important factors that our tipsters consider before making their bets.
Form can obviously be influenced by a lot of things, but regardless of what causes it, most teams will not play at a consistent level throughout the entirety of a season in any league. There are certainly other leagues where this is more apparent than in the NRL – take the NBA or even MLB in the USA for example, leagues in which there are so many games that form fluctuations are inevitable and common throughout the season.
The NRL has a comparatively low 27 rounds so there is a little less margin for error for teams, but they do still have clear periods of ups and downs. Take the Rabbitohs for example. In 2024, they lost nine of their first ten games in a season in which they were expected to contend. They then won five in a row and six of their next seven, before losing their final seven of the season.
There were various factors involved here, not least injury, but intangibles like confidence also clearly played a role. They were a completely different team at different points in the season, and while NRL betting sites would have accounted for that in their odds, early on in each of those fluctuations there was clearly some value to be had. That is a prime example of why our experts factor in recent form so heavily when developing their NRL tips.
Our tips for any league will always factor in home ground or court advantage, and in the NRL it is no different. Not all home ground advantages are made equal, of course; some teams have a much greater discrepancy in their home and away performances than others, while in the NRL it’s also important to note whether the visitor is simply travelling to a different part of their home city – common in the NRL with so many teams to Sydney – or if, for example, they are travelling from Far North Queensland all the way to Melbourne.
The 2024 NRL ladder gave a few good examples of the potential for a discrepancy in performance based on where a game is played. The Bulldogs, for example, went 10-2 at home and 4-8 on the road, while the Sea Eagles were 9-3 in Manly and 4-7 away. Plenty of teams did not have any sort of significant discrepancy though, so when making their NRL tips and predictions, our tipsters will always be across how both teams play at home and away.
The NRL has a long and storied history and so too do many matchups between individual teams, and while there isn’t much of note to delve into for games between many sides, there are plenty of examples of bogey sides in the NRL.
That is exactly what the Storm have been of late to the Roosters. Incredibly, the Storm have won 11 of the last 12 matchups between the two sides, and that is during a period in which the Roosters have been a pretty good side. At this point, there is clearly a psychological edge involved, and that has to be considered when developing tips for NRL.
But it’s important to be careful when deciding what is and isn’t important. A trend like that which harks back a few years can certainly be relevant, but if, for example, such a trend has been when one team has been terrible and another has been contending, it may not be relevant if they’re now evenly matched. Matchup history a long time in the past is also generally fairly irrelevant if it’s far enough back that very few of the players involved in those past, lopsided periods are still playing for those teams.
The weather can be important when analysing who will win, with some teams better suited to wet conditions, for example, than others, but more often our NRL tipsters will use this to inform over/under bets.
Obviously bookmakers will factor in something like heavy rain to their total predictions, but if you’re onto it early this can be a good way to get a leg up. Clearly we don’t like to be too reliant on weather forecasters, but if earlier in the week it looks pretty likely that a Thursday night game is going to be heavily influenced by rain, you may often find a higher points over/under than what it might be closer to kick off.
Our expert NRL tips come out throughout the course of the NRL season, providing you with insights into every game of the year. Generally these are out earlier in the week, so if you are looking for this week’s NRL tips then you know where you find them and should be able to from around Tuesday or Wednesday onwards.
Our NRL tips of the week cover every game, while we also provide NRL multi tips on a weekly basis as well as some general analysis to round out our comprehensive offering. So if you’re looking for NRL tips of the week, have a look on our site!
Our NRL predictions give you a platform from which to create your own NRL tips; a platform you can use in any way that you wish. There is, of course, nothing to stop you plugging and playing our NRL tips – trusting the judgement of our experts and simply betting on exactly what it is that we bet on.
Alternatively, maybe you back yourself as a tipster, or find enjoyment in doing your own research. If that’s the case, then that’s great, and perhaps our NRL tips and predictions can instead help you to build a bit more knowledge.
Maybe our NRL pro tips will match what you were thinking, giving you that little bit of extra confidence. Or perhaps the opposite will be true! You might be leaning one way and find that our analysis has led us in the complete other direction, in which case you might adjust your thinking – or alternatively, completely ignore us!
But there is never any harm in getting another perspective. At best our NRL tips for betting will give you something to follow, and at worst, you might get a view that doesn’t match your own but which could still give you something extra to think about.
There is no shortage of history to look at when it comes to the NRL, with the nation’s top league starting well over 100 years ago. Of course, not all of history is relevant. Beyond the last few years, we’re not too fussed what has happened in the past because realistically it has no impact on today’s game.
But that doesn’t mean that our tipsters turn a blind eye to it. There are certainly elements of past performance and certain trends that are worth considering when analysing a matchup.
A good example of this is just as we mentioned above; recent matchup history. There is no doubt that a trend such as the Storm beating the Roosters 11 out of the past 12 times is relevant, so while there is plenty of history that we won’t ascribe any importance too, there are some things that we do factor in.
Something like home ground advantage can also extend back a few years. Take the Panthers, for example. They made five consecutive Grand Finals between 2020 and 2024 so clearly they were a good team wherever they played in that time, but their home ground advantage was particularly distinct. In fact, during that time they hardly ever lost in Penrith; going 9-3, 9-3, 10-2, 12-0 and 9-0 on their home turf in that time. Such an extended streak of dominance on their home turf is well and truly a relevant factor in developing NRL tips.
While the NRL tips that we provide relate to the (generally) nine weekly games in the NRL, individual matchups are not the only thing that you can bet on, and particularly at the bigger betting apps and sites you will have a range of different futures tips to peruse. Even new betting sites will often have futures, though these may be a little more limited than what you will find with the big ones.
What they will virtually all have is an outright winner market. As you can probably guess, this very simply relates to who will win the whole thing. But as mentioned, there are a range of alternative futures markets. With many NRL betting sites you can punt on teams to make the top eight, to make the top four, or to finish on the bottom of the ladder, while you can also bet on individual player markets such as who will win the Dally M Medal, and closer to Grand Final day, who will win the Clive Churchill Medal for best on ground on the big day.
Futures bets can be a fun way to have a horse in the race throughout the entirety of the season. All it takes is one bet at the start of the season, and you can have something to root for for close to six months, so you can get plenty of bang for your buck betting on these markets.
Below, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions that punters have about the NRL.
There are a couple of different ways to watch the NRL in Australia. Every single game throughout the course of the season is broadcast on Fox League, which you can get either through Foxtel or Kayo Sports, so this is the easiest way to ensure you can catch every game. Alternatively, there are games on free to air too, though which of them and how many varies from state to state.
This is a question which clearly varies from year to year, though in recent times that has not been the case! The Panthers won an incredible four Premierships in a row between 2021 and 2024, a feat which had not previously been achieved for around 60 years. There are certainly teams which are consistently more successful in the league, the Storm a prime example, but in general there is plenty of variation in terms of who is up there and contending in any given year.
There is plenty that goes into the development of our NRL predictions. We’ve elaborated in a bit more detail above, but basically we factor in a whole range of different things, including recent form, where the game is being played, matchup history, how the involved teams match up against one another, and what the weather is expected to be like – to name just a few. Combined with a lifetime of NRL knowledge, we think this helps us to make some pretty good free NRL tips.
There is plenty of hard and fast empirical data that we rely on when it comes to NRL predictions. All of the above factors that we consider have data related to them which can be found through various sources; information about home and away performance, for example, is available simply on the NRL ladder, while matchup history can be found on a range of different sites, one of the easiest of which to use is called Rugby League Project.
With a lot of knowledge and research behind our NRL predictions, we think that our experts provide some pretty valuable insights that can be of significant use to you. If you’re new to betting or not confident with your tips on the NRL then this is particularly the case, but even if you’re a seasoned tipster, having a read of our detailed analysis can at worst add to your platform of knowledge.
Quite a lot. If you’ve ever watched a game of rugby league it will come as no surprise to you that there are plenty of injuries, particularly through the course of a relatively long season, while there are also a lot of suspensions too. Clearly this has a massive impact on a team’s fortunes, so as much as coaches will try to sell to fans that injuries don’t affect them, realistically they have a huge impact and can play a major role in team form. Our tipsters always factor player availability heavily into their NRL tips and predictions.
Who are we to say! Though there are certainly teams that have enjoyed more success than others over an extended period of time, equalisation measures ensure that whoever you go for should have at least a chance of making themselves competitive during a five-year period. That is to say, unlike in a league like the EPL, you’re not going to be supporting a team perennially destined to mediocrity.
Nope. Therein lies the beauty of winning your bets! Of course, it can be mighty hard to actually succeed betting given the raft of knowledge and resources at the disposal of the betting sites, but if you are lucky enough to have some winnings to withdraw (and wise enough to actually withdraw them) then you will not need to be paying tax on them. This is regardless of how you choose to fund your account; whether you’re depositing on a debit card betting site, using something with a broader range of payment methods like a Google Pay betting site – it doesn’t matter. Regardless of how you deposit and withdraw, you don’t have to pay tax on tips in Australia.
