  • Welsh side Wrexham FC have achieved promotion from League Two.
  • The reds have gone up in back-to-back campaigns, following their National League triumph in 2023.
  • American celebrities Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny have invested big and transformed the fortunes of the club.

Few investments in the sporting world are more in vogue than buying a lower league English football team.

One of the first celebrity conglomerates to invest in football in the UK was the purchase of Wrexham FC by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny, which made news with punters and international betting sites the world over and there has been plenty of subsequent success at the Racecourse Ground.

Despite enjoying some historic FA Cup giant killings, Wrexham FC had always been a sleeping giant within the English football pyramid.

Based in North Wales, with a patriotic following from all across the area, Wrexham were in the doldrums throughout the 2010’s, following their relegation to the National League in 2008.

However, Hollywood came calling, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny now transforming the results of Wrexham, both on and off the pitch.

Back-to-back promotions

Getting out of the National League was always going to be the biggest test for Wrexham, who had spent 15 seasons in non-league prior to their 2023 promotion.

They were a side riding the crest of a wave heading into the 2024 campaign and were backed by many betting sites and punters to go straight up from League Two.

However, actually getting the job done is a real challenge and the reds have managed to step up to the plate this term, securing promotion in behind champions elect Stockport County.

Play on Parky

When it comes to the ins and outs of English lower league football, very few managers are as long in the tooth as Phil Parkinson.

The former Bradford and Charlton manager has a thirst for winning games, and he has been able to turn Wrexham into a winning machine at the top of League Two.

Whilst it looks set to be Stockport that lift the title at the end of the season, promotion for Wrexham was an outcome that has been long tipped by many football betting sites

Hollywood hailed

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny went out on a limb to purchase Wrexham back in 2020 and the Hollywood duo have forged the blueprint for many other side.

With development of off-field facilities, as well as to the Racecourse Ground, the Hollywood pair look to have listened to the wider Wrexham community with every decision they have made.

Wrexham look to have plenty of money to throw at their League One campaign next year too and whilst the dust is still settling on this season, they are the favourites to be promoted from League One next season with many betting sites.

Wrexham FC are now a household name in the world of football, thanks to the continue promotion of the club from Hollywood superstars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny.

With another promotion bagged, Wrexham’s recent seasons have been an undoubted success story, and they will be chasing more glory in 2025 and beyond.
