Who will manage Bayern Munich next season?

Bayern Munich remain one of European football’ great institutions but their pen champs for hitting the panic button has increased in recent time. 

Having not won the Bundesliga for the first time since 2012, there was panic on the streets of Munich, as Thomas Tuchel was to be shown the door at the end of the season. 

However, Bayern are now in the last 4 of the Champions League and their fans are becoming frustrated by the lack of forward planning at the club. 

With football continuing to evolve and great managers such as Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp continuing to push the envelope, those who can truly manage at the elite end of the game, are few and far between. 
 
A Champions League winner with Chelsea in 2021, Thomas Tuchel is one of those who can mix it with the big boys in European football and he has an excellent reputation. 
 
Having been at Bayern Munich for just over 12 months and with his side way behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga race, Tuchel was informed that he would be shown the door at the end of the 2023/24 season. 
 
That decision now looks to be a little premature, as Bayern are in the last 4 of the Champions League and are three games away from European glory. 
 
Troubling Tuchel 

Unlike many domestic leagues in Europe, the Bundesliga manages to flourish without any meaningful competition from any other side than Bayern Munich. 
 
Bayern have won the Bundesliga title every year since 2012, a remarkable achievement but one that can sometimes make the competition a little sterile. 
 
Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen ripped up the form book this year though, winning the league at a canter, an outcome that left Thomas Tuchel under pressure and he was told he would be relieved of his duties at the end of the season. 
 
Turning the tide 

Ever since that announcement was made, Bayern look to have played with more freedom under Thomas Tuchel, an approach that has seen an upturn in results. 
 
Whilst the Bundesliga was well beyond them, Champions League wins over Lazio and Arsenal has now added a sense of positivity to Bayern Munich and their campaign. 
 
The Germans are the outsiders to overcome Real Madrid over two legs in the UCL semifinals with many betting sites but they certainly have the playing personnel to trouble the Spaniards. 
 
What next for Bayern? 

Uncertainty and a lack of communication have been the key issues felt by Bayern fans in recent times and a petition has been gathering momentum to keep Tuchel at the club. 
 
Regardless of their Champions League outcome, Bayern fans feel they have a good enough manager in Thomas Tuchel, with a lack of obvious alternatives on the market too. 
 
Ralf Rangnick is seen as a potential successor to Tuchel at Bayern but if Thomas Tuchel was to bring home a Champions League title, Bayern fans won’t want him to go anywhere.

Not winning trophies has a curious impact on some clubs and Bayern Munich have struggled to deal with the emergence of Bayer Leverkusen, on and off the pitch this season. 
 
Manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to leave the club at the end of the season but with Bayern still in the Champions League hunt, who knows what the future holds for both parties.
