Tiger Woods puts a date on his return

Whilst the PGA and LIV Golf Tours debate continue to rage, domestic and international betting sites continue to fixate on the future of Tiger Woods. 

Yet another injury setback looks to have been overcome and with Woods announcing his return at the Genesis Invitational later in February 2024. 

Only the great Jack Nicklaus in the history of golf has managed to win more major titles than Tiger Woods and his place amongst the golfing greats remains unquestioned. 
 
Despite plenty of off-course issues that have threatened to derail both Tiger Woods’s career and his brand, he continues to show real resilience in his attempts to operate at the sharp end of global golf once more. 
 
Yet another comeback looks to have been fully completed, with Woods announcing his intention to play at the Genesis Invitational in California in February 2024 and inevitably, the hype surrounding the tournament has reached peak levels as a result. 
 
The GOAT 

When it comes to winning golf tournaments, specifically major events, Tiger Woods has blazed a trail in modern day golf. 
 
Triumphing at 15 majors, and winning 82 tour events in total, Woods transcends beyond the game of golf and the PGA Tour but his return to it could not be happening at a better time. 
 
The PGA Tour is locked in a battle for notoriety with the LIV Golf Series and having Tiger Woods back in action will do wonders for the profile of the tour and it looks to be a move that suits all parties. 
 
Setting the record straight 

Having announced back in 2023 that he would like to play 12 events per year, Tiger Woods was always expected to return to action, but few people knew where he would opt to play. 
 
Interestingly, and perhaps befitting for a man of his character, Woods has opted to play the Genesis Invitational – one of the very few flagship events on the PGA Tour that he has never managed to win. 
 
This would be a seismic return to action for Woods if he was to triumph at the Riviera Club but with Tiger Woods in any golfing event, punters and online betting sites are always on high alert. 
 
Can he challenge again? 

Aged 48 and clearly with his absolute best years behind him, Tiger Woods won’t be pursuing the world number one status in the world of golf. 
 
However, as proved by his incredible Masters victory in 2019, if he can string 4 good days of golf together, he remains one of the very best players on the planet. 
 
Injuries and inconsistency could be the biggest stumbling block in his way but with Woods back in action at the Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour, fans can once again dream of seeing him lift another trophy. 

With the sport of golf in a relative state of flux, the return of Tiger Woods at the Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour will be a welcome boost for the golfing kingmakers. 

Whether he can lift the title remains to be seen but Woods swinging a club again will certainly get the juices flowing for punters and online betting sites.
