Can Nadal win at Roland Garros again?

Rafael Nadal is chasing a 15th men’s singles title at the 2024 French open

News Insights

  • 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal is launching his latest comeback.
  • The 37-year-old is chasing a 15th French Open title.
  • Nadal made his return to action at the Barcelona Open.
  • He exited the tournament in the last 32, losing to 4th seed Alex de Minaur.

No player in the history of tennis has dominated on one particular surface in the way that Rafael Nadal has.

For the last decade, Nadal has been imperious on clay, all across Europe and his record on the ‘dirt’ has made him impossible to bet against for many tennis punters and international betting sites.

However, Nadal is in the midst of his latest injury comeback and there is talk that the 2024 French Open could be his last.

For the best part of 20 years, Rafael Nadal has been one of the dominant forces on the ATP Tour, with his clay court prowess often described as unplayable.

The Mallorcan has collected 14 French Open titles, comprising of his 22 Grand Slam wins in total and his celebrity status has transcended way beyond the tennis court.

However, injuries have heavily impacted his career in recent times and Nadal’s will and resilience continue to be tested, as he stages yet another injury comeback.

Fifteenth Fairytale

The prospect of Rafael Nadal even stepping on court at Roland Garros is a hugely exciting one, with the man from Mallorca last winning the title in Paris back in 2022.

His 14 wins at the event put him into a different stratosphere to most tennis players and his dominance on clay has been nothing short of spectacular since his first French Open win back in 2005.

Winning once again at Roland Garros would be a fairytale beyond the dreams of Nadal and his fans but he is always capable of producing incredible tennis and he can never be written off by any tennis betting sites

Comeback concern

There is very little momentum gathering behind Nadal’s French Open bid however, following an underwhelming return to action for him in Barcelona.

Nadal has only managed to play 5 competitive matches in 2024 and his workload is constantly being managed to prepare him for the events he wants to play.

The French Open is always the priority on Nadal’s calendar, so he is likely to be seen in Paris but how far he can go does remain somewhat of a mystery.

Fresh French Open winner?

In the absence of Rafael Nadal’s presence over the past two decades, only Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka and Novak Djokovic have managed to win the tournament since 2005.

Federer is retired, with Wawrinka way off the pace and Djokovic has been out of form throughout 2024, meaning a new name could emerge victorious in Paris.

Carlos Alcaraz has long been touted as the air to the throne to replace Nadal, whilst Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud have both reached French Open finals in the past and look to be the in-form picks with many tennis betting sites.

Rafael Nadal’s relationship with the French Open is like no other in world tennis but the Mallorcan is in a race against time to be fit for the 2024 edition of the event.

With injuries plaguing the twilight of his career, will Nadal dig deep to clinch another French Open or will there be a new winner in Paris in 2024?
