- Defending champion Max Verstappen was too good in the season opener in Bahrain.
- Verstappen let his wheels do the talking after a tough week for Red Bull.
- The Dutchman cruised home with a 22 second advantage in Bahrain.
- His Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez finished in second, with Carlos Sainz finishing 3rd.
Whilst it certainly wasn’t unexpected by both domestic and international betting sites, the manner with which Max Verstappen won the first race of the 2024 campaign was certainly ominous for the chasing pack.
With Bahrain ticked off, Max Verstappen looks set to be the man to catch again this season.
The last three years in the world of Formula 1 have been all about Max Verstappen and early signs in 2024 suggest that nothing is going to change that this year.
Plenty of pre-season build-up had centred around Lewis Hamilton moving to Ferrari and Christian Horner’s perilous position at Red Bull but Verstappen reminded everyone who is the king currently.
Winning the Bahrain Grand Prix was the first step for Verstappen, who breezed his way to an impressive triumph in the Gulf and he currently looks unstoppable.
Taking it to the Max
Whilst always confident when talking about his chances, not even Max Verstappen couldn’t have hoped for a better start to the season.
Following a superb testing run, Verstappen led from the front in Bahrain and simply never looked like losing his lead, leaving energy in reserve to cruise to an opening win of the campaign.
22 seconds was the margin, ahead of his team mate Sergio Perez and Verstappen once again seems to have a Red Bull that will do him a merry dance once again in 2024.
Horner in the corner
For all the positives enjoyed by Max Verstappen and Red Bull over the past few seasons, the increased speculation surrounding team boss Christian Horner certainly has not helped the profile of the team.
Horner cut a subdued figure at times in Bahrain, despite the fact that his team managed a 1-2 finish to start the season, to no surprise with any punter or online betting site.
Pictured with his wife Geri Halliwell, and in deep conversation with Jos Verstappen, Max’s Dad – it was another crazy weekend for Horner, who will be hoping to let his cars do the talking.
Arabian adventure continues
The new-look 24 race calendar in Formula 1 is a hugely exciting period for fans and Saudi Arabia is the next destination on the calendar.
One of the newest races on the roster, the track in Jeddah is a real test for all 20 drivers on the grid and once again, Max Verstappen will be the man to stop.
For the chasing pack, Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz, they will be hoping to keep hustling Verstappen, whilst the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso will be seeking improved performances here in Saudi Arabia.
Max Verstappen carried on where he left off from last season, with an impressive Bahrain Grand Prix win that caused a splash with plenty of punters and online betting sites.
With speculation mounting throughout the Red Bull team, Verstappen held his nerve to show why he is the man to beat once more in 2024.
