Bayer Leverkusen win the 2024 Bundesliga title

The Bundesliga had become a rather monotonous affair, with Bayern Munich having won the title every year for the past decade. 

However, Bayer Leverkusen have upset the form book, surging to the top of the table under Xabi Alonso and they have finally broken their German top flight duck, much to the amazement of many punters and international betting sites. 

Whilst their status amongst German and European football fans has always been relatively secure, Bayer Leverkusen were always known as the team that had never won the league title.

With English behemoths Liverpool behind the 8-ball in their quarter final tie against Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen are now the favourites for the Europa League title with many betting sites.

For all the huge successes enjoyed at Bayer Leverkusen this season, the news that Xabi Alonso is set to stay at the club is arguably the biggest coup of all. 
 
With Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool and Thomas Tuchel departing Bayern Munich at the end of the season, Alonso’s future at Leverkusen has long been speculated over. 
 
However, he has signaled his intent to stay at Leverkusen beyond the 2024 campaign and who knows how far he and the club could go in the future.
