Andy Farrell is the new Lions boss

With modern day sport enabling fans and punters to access the biggest names on the planet daily, very few traditions remain untouched.

Ahead of their 2025 trip to Australia, Andy Farrell has been named as their new head coach, a move that has made them favourites to prevail in the three-game series with many international betting sites.

Culminating in a Grand Slam Six Nations triumph in 2023 and a spot at the top of the world rankings, Ireland have become one of the biggest forces in world rugby. 
 
Whilst they came up short in the Rugby World Cup, Ireland have an attractive brand of rugby, coupled with a defensive resilience that Farrell has instilled into his players. 
 
Fantastic Farrell 

A fine player in his day, it is not a surprise that Andy Farrell has transitioned from the playing field to the coaches’ area so seamlessly. 
 
Having made his name with the all-conquering Wigan Warriors in rugby league, Farrell was one many players in the mid 2000’s who transitioned successfully from rugby league to union and he represented England frequently in Test Match rugby. 
 
Since joining Ireland in 2019 as head coach, they have also picked up an historic series win in New Zealand, credentials that make Farrell the best choice for the job currently. 
 
Legendary Lions? 

The last time that the British & Irish Lions visited Australia back in 2013 they emerged victorious, with the Warren Gatland-led side triumphing 2-1. 
 
Many of the players within the great side of 2013 have been immortalised as legendary Lions since, with that also representing the last time that the Lions managed to win a whole series. 
 
The task in hand for Farrell and his troops is to overcome an improving but relatively inexperienced Australia side and with ‘Faz’ in charge, all those of a British and Irish persuasion will believe that they can turn the tide in the summer of 2025.
