NRL Multi Bet of the Weekend

Round 16 is done and dusted and what a crazy week it was, from a crazy golden point game on Friday night to Alex Twal scoring his first try. I hope you got on our multi of the week last week because we banged at $9.43. We are back this week with MyBettingAustralia’s NRL Multi of the week and we have found some value across Betting Sites on the Warriors, Knights and Broncos.

St George Illawarra Dragons vs New Zealand Warriors

June 23rd, 20:00, WIN Stadium

For our first leg of the multi of the week, we look to the Dragons hosting the Warriors on Friday night. Both sides should be well rested, full of energy after having the bye last week. The Warriors are in fine form, winning their last 2 games to push them up to 6th spot, with Shaun Johnson scoring 3 tries and getting 3 assists in these games. While the Dragons are home, the Warriors have been in fine form in Australia, beating the Raiders 36-14, taking their away record to 4-3, including wins over the Cowboys and Sharks. The Warriors miss no players to Origin while the Dragons have Ben Hunt, who should back up.

For the Dragons, things have gone from bad to worse. They sit 15th on the ladder, have recently sacked their manager and now Ben Hunt has asked for a release. Ben Hunt is the key to the Dragons, leading them in attack as well as controlling the side with his kicking game. With the news of his requested release, you’d have to think there are some unhappy campers in St George. The Warriors are the better side here with all the momentum, needing a win to continue their push for finals footy this year. That’s why I am taking the Warriors -5.5 @1.85 on BoomBet.

Penrith Panthers vs Newcastle Knights

June 24th, 17:30, BlueBet Stadium

For our second leg of the multi of the week, we see Panthers hosting the Knights. The Panthers are the team to beat this year, winning the last 2 premierships and currently sitting in 2nd position on the ladder. The Knights had a slow start to the season but since moving Kalyn Ponga to fullback they have looked far better. The Panthers are coming off a brutal 88minute game against the Cowboys, which is sure to leave its mark and have the added impact of Origin. The Panthers have To’o, Crichton, Luai, Martin and Yeo playing Origin, while most should back up, it wouldn’t surprise me to see one or two rested. Even If they do play, I can see a reduced workload which will take away from this Panthers side already missing Cleary.

While the Knights sit in 14th, they have repeatedly shown their ability to compete. Since Ponga has moved to fullback, they have lost to the Broncos and Roosters by a combined 6-point margin and earlier this year they lost to the Panthers by 1 point. While there is no doubt the Panthers are the better side here, I think the bookies are overlooking the impact Origin has on them as well as writing off the Knights. That’s why I am taking the Knights +18.5 @1.38 on Bet365.

Brisbane Broncos vs Gold Coast Titans

June 25th, 14:00, Suncorp Stadium

For our final leg of the multi we see a Queensland derby with the Broncos hosting the Titans. The Broncos have been the most impressive side this year, holding an 11-4 record on top of the ladder, while the Titans have gone about their business quietly, sitting in 9th position, right in contention for finals footy. Both sides are heavily impacted by Origin, with the Broncos having Haas, Walsh, Flegler and Carrigan playing while the Titans have Fotuaika, Tino and Fifita. All of these players who played Origin 1 backed up for round 14, however, the Titans had Fifita and Tino on the bench and I expect the same.

This Broncos side is ruthless and with a weakened starting pack, I can see this game getting away from the Titans early. The Broncos have won each of their past 4 encounters with the Titans and I can’t see this one going differently. The current league leaders at home are too hard to pass up and that’s why I am taking the Broncos -9.5 @1.90 on Playup.
