Doomben hosts a myriad of excellent races on Saturday 18th May.

The Queensland racing scene continues to grow in stature and Doomben hosts another stellar day of racing on Saturday 18th May. With some of the biggest names in the business lining up, it promises to be a huge day of action, for both punters and online bookmakers alike.

Race 1: Rising Pacific

A generational talent returns to the fold here, as Rising Pacific looks to get back to winning ways in the cut and thrust of Doomben.

This should be a high-quality opener to proceedings on a busy day at Doomben and the calibre of the horse here in the opener is representative of the packed day of action ahead.

Kiwi flyer Rising Pacific has long been touted as one of the very best horses around and the 1600m trip should suit, despite not having bagged a win lately.

Miracle Spin and Tenzing will provide stiff competition, but Rising Pacific looks a very decent price to get back in the winners’ enclosure here with most Australian horse racing betting sites.

Tip: Rising Pacific to win the race @ $4.00 (GetSetBet)

Race 5: Gringotts

A very similar formula has been put forward in race 5, with jockey Jamie Kah on board again, as fellow Kiwi flyer Gringotts looks to bring home the bacon for punters and Aussie bookmakers alike.

Winning is a habit and Gringotts is a horse that knows how to get the job done, having won 3 of its last 4 starts and the 1600m trip at Doomben should suit down to a tee.

Of course, there is a high-quality field that has to be overturned here in Queensland, with the likes of Territory Express certainly out to provide very stiff competition.

But in what looks to be a straight hit between the two, Gringotts looks to be the way to go here.

Tip: Gringotts to win the race @ $2.30 (TopSport)

Race 8: I Wish I Win

The headline act of the day is the Doomben 10,000 and there are a whole host of big names looking to force their way into Group 1 folklore here.

Topping the betting is the impervious I Wish I Win, a horse that just seems to know how to get the job done every time it races, and it has been backed heavily to get the job done here by all and sundry.

Having not landed a win in its last 3 outings, a couple of question marks are beginning to linger for I Wish I Win but it remains a high-quality operator who will set a fast and furious pace over 1200m.

Espiona, Private Eye and Bella Nipotina will all be looking to have their say but I Wish I Win should prevail here.

Tip: I Wish I Win to win the race @ $2.00 (Bet365)
