There are some superb races on a busy card at Ascot on Saturday.

Nine races make up a superb card at Ascot and there are plenty of contests catching the eye with punters and online bookmakers.

With a whole host of Group 2 contests, in addition to the Group 1 Northerly Stakes, there is plenty for punters to get on board with.

Race 6: Stormy Tawny

Whilst the riches in race 6 at Ascot aren’t perhaps what they are in some of the other races on the card, there is a whole host of excellent horses in contention here – which is catching the eye with the biggest and Aussie bookmakers

4-year-old Stormy Tawny has a prodigious reputation and has been winning races over course and distance for fun recently.

Competition in this one may arrive in the form of Vampi At Play but Stormy Tawny is a strong contender here, who should have too much about it for the chasing pack.

Tip: Stormy Tawny to win the race @ $3.50 (TopSport)

Race 7: Hanchi

The Furphy in race 7 is another strong card at Ascot and it should be a very watchable, if not frenetic encounter over just 1000m.

Topping the betting is Hanchi, a 3-year-old that has won twice from 5 career starts and who is familiar with the workings of the Ascot course.

Both the ground and the distance should suit and whilst there are a few in the mix with a shout here, Hanchi will certainly be the horse to beat.

Tip: Hanchi to win the race @ $3.00 (GetSetBet).

Race 8: Zaaki

There is no doubt about the main attraction from Ascot on Saturday 9th December, as the Northerly Stakes takes centre stage once more.

Group 1 racing remains the biggest draw in Australia, and it is a real coup for Ascot to continue to hold its own on the national calendar with races such as this.

Ran over 1800m, the Northerly Stakes is a renowned Group 1 contest, and it looks to be all about British flyer Zaaki in 2023.

Recent results in esteemed company haven’t turned too many heads of late but Zaaki is a seriously good horse, who is saddled by one of the best in the business in James McDonald.

There are a few horses that could challenge here but Zaaki should prevail, if it can find its stride.

Tip: Zaaki to win the race @ $2.60 (Bet365)
