Verry Elleegant tragically passed away this week

Very few horses manage to taste success in both Australia and Europe but Verry Elleegant enjoyed a career that transcended beyond Australia. 

With wins everywhere she went, Verry Elleegant was a unique racer, with a prolific track record and news of her passing has shocked both punters and online betting sites. 

Winning the Melbourne Cup is always the peak of any horse’s career, yet prior to that career defining performance at Flemington in 2021, Verry Elleegant was always a name that piqued interest with both punters and Aussie bookmakers.

Under the now prolific duo of Chris Waller and James McDonald, Verry Elleegant came good to clinch the infamous Melbourne Cup trophy. 
 
It was a first triumph for both Waller and McDonald, who have both gone on to achieve incredible things in Australian racing and Verry Elleegant has played a huge part in their respective careers. 
 
French Finale 

Having conquered so much of the Australian racing circuit and as a house hold name for both punters and Australian horse racing betting apps, the decision was made to move Verry Elleegant to Europe to chase further glory. 
 
Despite some promising showings in both France and the UK, Verry Elleegant never hit the previous career heights and was retired from competitive racing at the back end of 2022. 
 
Complications with birthing a foal tragically cut Verry Elleegant’s retired life short, but she will always be fondly remembered with Australian horse racing betting apps and punters.
