Va Via gets Godolphin ball rolling in 2024

The victory for Va Via was expected to a degree by many online betting sites at Geelong on Saturday but the manner with which Damian Lane prevailed in the Listed Black Pearl Stakes was a standout performance. 
 
Having been packed in midfield until a furlong or so out, Damian Lane managed to navigate a path for Va Via to stretch his legs and rattle away from the pack. 
 
With another victory to his name at Geelong on Saturday on board another exciting speedster Elouyou, it was a good day out for Lane, who continues to prove himself as one of the best in the business. 
 
Bright future for Va Via 

Having been sired by prolific winner Astern, and as a half-sister to fellow big-race behemoths Tom Kitten and Promotions, there was perhaps a sense of inevitability that Va Via would come good at this level. 
 
Aged 4, and under the stewardship of James Cummings, with the Godolphin colours backing her too, Va Via demonstrated at Geelong why there has been plenty of hype surrounding her of late. 
 
How far Va Via can go remains to be seen but, on this evidence, it should be a fascinating 2024 ahead for Va Via and connections. 

Getting the first win on the board in any calendar year is welcome and for Va Via, registering a victory at the Listed Black Pearl Stakes at Geelong was a real marker. 

A horse that has been monitored by Australian punters and betting apps alike, Va Via is off to a flyer in 2024 and James Cummings and Godolphin will be hoping for more parades around the winner’s enclosure.
