Caulfield will once again host the PB Lawrence Stakes, creating plenty of attention with domestic and international betting sites.

With A$300,000 in the prize fund, the Caulfield Stakes ran over 1400m, always brings in the punters at Caulfield.

Attention with all of the biggest Australian betting sites turns to the running of the PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield on 19/08/23.

The race, which originated back to 1949, has been a breeding ground for some supreme horses of the future and the spoils were scooped by Mr Brightside in 2022, the favourite for this year’s race with many betting apps.

Whilst the PB Lawrence Stakes comes immersed within a busy weekend of racing across Australia, it is part of an excellent card at Caulfield, with some superb races in prospect.

As ever, with such interest in the race, all of the biggest Aussie bookmakers will be on hand to give punters something to get involved with when it comes to PB Lawrence Stakes betting.

Mr Brightside to do the double?

Only Tauto back in 1971 and 1972 has won the PB Lawrence Stakes in back-to-back years, something Mr Brightside is looking to emulate.

The prolific 6-year-old has bagged over $8 million in prize money and is one of the most exciting horses in Australian racing.

Some question marks inevitably linger over fitness, with a win at Randwick at the end of last season the last time Mr Brightside was seen, but on racing credentials, it is going to take some stopping here at Caulfield.

The betting market has spoken, with old and new betting sites backing Mr Brightside to do the business again and at $2.15 it will take some stopping with PuntersPal

Tuvalu to make a challenge

Whilst Mr Brightside’s dominance has been recognised in the betting markets by most betting apps, Tuvalu looks to be a horse capable of at least mounting a challenge.

The Lindsey Smith trained 6-year-old has picked up some significant career wins and should relish the trip and conditions at Caulfield this weekend.

It will have to be at its best, something it wasn’t at Flemington last time out, but Tuvalu is a good horse, that could well be in the hunt at $8.00 with Bet365.

Overseas contingent in the mix

The PB Lawrence Stakes is often seen as a curtain raiser in Australian racing, with winter slowly warming and turning into the summer.

As such, plenty of the biggest owners, trainers and jockeys use the meet as a chance to pit their wits against the best and establish where they are at, with the season ahead.

Ireland is represented by an exciting prospect in El Bodegon, a young 4-year-old that has already bagged some serious career prize money.

This should be a tough test for such a young horse but at $20.00, with MidasBet, it shouldn’t be ignored completely.

By the same rationale, Uncle Bryn is a British horse that has been primed for races such as these and isn’t in the contest to simply make up the numbers.

The shorter trip should suit the 5-year-old and it looks to be more than in the hunt at $21.00 with Boombet to go well in the PB Lawrence Stakes.

Caulfield once again hosts the PB Lawrence Stakes on August 19th, 2023, a race that has been popular with Aussie bookmakers and punters alike.

With a whole host of excellent horses in the running, it should be a thrilling weekend of racing at the iconic Caulfield track.
