The Epsom Handicap and the Metropolitan headline a superb day of racing from Royal Randwick on Saturday 30th September 2023 and there are plenty of other excellent races that adorn the 10-race card.

All of the biggest and best Aussie bookmakers are set to see plenty of traction from Royal Randwick on Saturday and it should be a memorable day of racing.

Very few races in Australia boast a A$1 million prize pot but the Premiere Stakes does just that, with A$580,000 going to the winning horse. The Group 2 offering has some very exciting horses in the mix, and it doesn’t look to be an easy one to call.

Such it the calibre of horse in this race, that most betting apps are having difficulty calling which horse will come out on top and claim their share of the handsome spoils.

Topping the betting and the form guide is Think About It, the prolific 5-year old that has won 9 out of its 10 career starts. Conditions at Royal Randwick are sure to suit just perfectly and whilst the opposition in this one will be very strong, Think About It should come out on top at $2.15 with Playup.

Key competition in this race comes in the form of Bella Nipotina, a horse that has bagged an incredible A$4 million worth of prize money in a decorated career. Recent form doesn’t have connections singing from the rooftops, but the 6-year-old has proven plenty of people wrong before and could go well here at $5.00 with Bet365.

With so much on the line in a race as prestigious as the Premiere Stakes, there are of course plenty of high quality horses who could be in the mix here. Both Zapateo and Mazu have plenty of experience at this level and could be worth a go at $6.50 and $12.00 respectively with Punterspal.

Picking a headline act on a sublime day of racing at Royal Randwick is no easy task but perhaps the Epsom Handicap is the pick of the bunch.

With a prize pot of A$1.5 million, the Epsom Handicap is a big draw with old and new betting sites alike and there is no shortage of quality in the paddock for this one.

Ran over 1600m, the Epsom Handicap is historically a race that has yielded some of the most prestigious talents in Australian horse racing and all of the biggest and best Aussie bookmakers are fully involved for this fascinating contest at Royal Randwick.

The open nature of the field is represented in the relatively long odds some of the favoruites find themselves for this one and it is The Inevitable that is the market leader for the Epsom in 2023. A prolific performer over course and distance, the 8-year-old has all the credentials required for a race such as this and looks to be an excellent bet at $6.50 with Punterspal. 

The aptly named Hope In Your Heart is another prestigious horse at this level, despite recent performances having been a little underwhelming. There is plenty to suggest that a recent run at Royal Randwick was nothing more than a warm up for this and connections are fully on board at $8.00 with Playup.

Strong claims can be made for plenty of other horses in the field, with the likes of Pounding and Rediener certainly likely to be in with a shot. Both horses have plenty of wins both at this level and in recent times and with the field so open in the 2023 Epsom, both horses have a great shot at $13.00 apiece with Bet365.

There is no letup in the Group 1 racing schedule at Royal Randwick, with the Metropolitan dominating column inches and betting previews in race 9 – the third Group 1 offering of a packed day.

Another race that carries plenty of prestige as well as prize money, A$750,000 makes up the healthy Metropolitan prize purse in 2023 and once again there are plenty of horses in with a shout.

The 2023 Australian horse racing season is in full swing, epitomised by the hosting of the Metropolitan at Royal Randwick, on the last day in September.

A race with fabled heritage, there is a runaway favourite in 2023 that has been catching the eye for a while.

Former UK royal horse Just Fine has taken to life in Australia like a duck to water, blitzing numerous strong fields and consequently is the strong favourite for the Metropolitan in 2023. Coming in at $1.70 with Bet365, Just Fine looks set to take some stopping in the Metropolitan in 2023.

Claims can be made for plenty of others in the race, but all have much longer odds, with Mr Waterville seen by many as the pick of the bunch. The Irish 4-year-old looks to be a rough diamond of sorts but could certainly cause a stir here at $9.00 with Playup.

Two more strong claims are also fully in the mix in this one, particularly when it comes to sneaking into the places and Major Beel and Benaud should be able to have a good run in this one. Overcoming Just Fine does look to be a tall order but both horses have plenty of experience and could well be in the mix at $15.00 apiece with Punterspal.
