Saturday Racing Tips - Royal Randwick 27/01/24

Royal Randwick frequently provides a superb backdrop for high quality races and there is another excellent 10-race card in prospect this weekend, attracting the attention of both punters and Aussie bookmakers.

The opening contest of the day at Royal Randwick promises to be an intriguing one, with so many young and exciting horses in contention over 1000m. 
 
All punters and Aussie bookmakers will be keeping a keen eye on this one, with some of the biggest and best horses of the future potentially on show here.

With a whole host of exciting 2-year-olds line up here, this should be a brilliant contest at Royal Randwick and with only 1000m to cover, it should be a fast and furious one. 
Topping the betting is the Chris Waller trained, Switzerland, a horse that comes from serious stock and who has been impressing in point-to-point contests throughout 2023. 

Of course, this is a step in quality and trip but connections wouldn’t have declared it if it wasn’t ready and Switzerland looks to be the horse to beat here at $2.90 with Playup. 

Plenty of other horses in the mix here come from similarly good stock, all chasing a debut win and Russian Roulette is the top Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott offering in this one.  

It will need to be at it from the off to catch some of the others, but Russian Roulette is certainly in with a chance here at $5.00 with Bet365. 

There are plenty of others with claims here, in what should be a frenetic contest for 2-year-olds, and both Deputize and Blue Illusion will firmly be in the mix at $7.00 and $7.50 respectively with Punterspal.  

Arguably one of the more enthralling offerings from Royal Randwick on Saturday, race 5 pits plenty of horses in need of a confidence boost against one and other. 

Of course, there needs to be a winner here and with A$160,000 in the prize pot, this should be a race that catches the eye with both old and new betting sites. 
 
Petaluma  

Ran over 1600m and with a plethora of different horses in the mix, this is probably one of the toughest races to call on a busy day of racing at Royal Randwick with many Aussie bookmakers. 

Kiwi flyer Castillian has long looked the part at this level within the New South Wales racing world, without necessarily putting in the results but it looks to be the hot favourite here. 

Coming into it off the back of an impressive 3rd place showing at Kensington, a push up to 1600m should help and perhaps it is time for Castillian to come good at $5.25 with Punterspal.  

In hot pursuit will be Amati, a Chris Waller trained horse that has never really got going and now aged 4, will be expected to kick on and fulfil some of the obvious potential. Conditions and distance should suit too, making Amati one to watch here at a decent value $7.50 with Playup. 

Two other horses with decent claims here are Don Pedro and Magnatear and in an open contest, neither can be ignored at $8.00 and $8.50 respectively with Bet365. 

A high-quality contest looks to be in prospect in race 6, with the 2000m trip attracting plenty of big-name trainers, jockeys, and horses. The A$160,000 prize pool is sure to be of interest too, as form and miles in the legs will be the ultimate objective for all in the field. 
 
The Agency Real Estate Handicap 

A very international feel about this contest at Royal Randwick only adds to the intrigue surrounding the betting markets and with plenty of really good horses in the mix, it should be a fascinating hussle over 2000m. 

The horse to beat appears to be Louisville, the Chris Waller trained 5-year-old consistently picks up results and a win over 1800m at Rosehill Gardens a fortnight ago was a hugely impressive performance. 

Confidence should be high in the camp coming into this one ant Louisville looks to be the one to catch at $3.10 with Bet365. 

British flyer Manbehindthemoney is next in the betting, and it looks to be a horse that can compete at this level. The 2000m trip should suit and with conditions looking handy too, it could be worth more than an each-way shot at $4.60 with Playup. 

Elsewhere, there are plenty of horses that have decent claims and perhaps the two that look most likely to be in the running are Aristonous and Floating, who are $6.50 and $8.00 respectively with Punterspal.
