Celebrating its century of races held, the Winx Stakes remains one of the most eye-catching Grade 1 races of the calendar year. With a prize pool of half a million dollars, the Winx Stakes has been held at Royal Randwick for almost a decade and it looks to be its spiritual home.

Such is the attraction of the Winx Stakes at Royal Randwick that there is a stellar field assembled, hoping to emulate the great Winx who last won the race back 2018. Originally the Warwick Stakes, the Winx Stakes does always turn heads in the international racing sphere, making it a favourite with most betting apps.

Zaaki arrives at Royal Randwick as the marginal market favourite, having collected over 10 million dollars in career prize money. Annabel Neasham is prolific at this level and hailing from the UK, Zaaki almost looks to have been cherry picked for this race at $4.80 with Playup.

Key competition arrives in the form of Fangirl, Chris Waller’s exciting 5-year old, who ran well at the same course merely two weeks ago. This is a step up in class, but Fangirl has delivered before and looks to be firmly in the mix at $5.00 with Bet365.

The beauty of the Winx Stakes is the wide range of horses it attracts, and the youthful King Colorado looks to have all the makings of a fast horse. The heavy conditions may not suit over 1400m, but it is another horse to keep an eye on at $7.50 with Punterspal. 

Elsewhere, there is value to be found in the likes of Think It Over and Osipenko, two horses that won on their last outings at Royal Randwick and they can be backed at $12.00 and $13.00 respectively with Playup.

The Irish contingent continues to catch the eye in the Premiers Cup, with two more serious chances appearing in the form of Hosier and Cleveland. Both horses ran steadily in recent outings at Royal Randwick, and they look to both have a shot at $6.00 and $9.00 respectively with Playup.

In a race presenting plenty of options, it is two Kiwi horses that could perhaps spring a surprise of sorts. Both Bonny Ezra and Mach Schnell are experienced campaigners, and they could enjoy the increase in pace at $11.00 and $18.00 respectively – both with Bet365.

Another sizeable prize pot is available for the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes in race 9 at Royal Randwick on Saturday, with A$300,000 in the pool. There are plenty of exciting young horses in the mix for this one, with this race seen as a breeding ground for future talent.

Ciaron Maher & David Eustace have plenty of exciting horses in the mix again here at Randwick and arguably none catch the eye more than Estrella. At 3-years old, Estrella looks to have a bright future and it is the justified favourite for this one at $4.50 with Bet365.

Not far at all behind is Kristilli, another hugely impressive ride that has finished in the top two in both of its previous outings. Winning well at Randwick last season should be the yard stick and it is a serious contender here at $4.60 with Playup.

There are plenty of selections that could force their way into contention, with Kimochi and Taormina two of the most obvious. Both horses are lightly raced, with 100% place records and they should be firmly in the mix at $9.00 and $13.00 respectively with Punterspal.
