Saturday Racing Tips - Gold Coast 13/01/24

The much-discussed Magic Millions Day was always going to be a hit with both punters and Aussie bookmakers, with the 11-race card at Gold Coast looking particularly fascinating.

With no fewer than 11 races on the card from Gold Coast, and a mere 8 of them carrying prize pots of over A$1 million, there is plenty for all levels of punter to get behind at all Aussie bookmakers.  
 
The second race of the ground-breaking day carries a relatively miserly winning pot of A$500,000 but with some of the most exciting debutants across Australia in contention, the 1000m dash should be an enthralling watch.  
 
Magic Millions Debut Fillies 

Any race that hosts 2-year-old horses exclusively is somewhat of a lottery, with punters and bookmakers going off pedigree, rather than facts but the Magic Millions Debut Fillies should be a superb encounter. 

With a remarkable list of owners, trainers and jockeys lining up their latest speedsters, the stakes in this race will be sky high, regardless of the handsome half a million prize pot on offer. 

Topping the betting is Too Darn Lizzie, a horse that looks to have all of the hallmarks of a Gai Waterhouse future winner, despite only being 2-years-old. 

Inexperience will be the only question mark here but on racing credentials, Too Darn Lizzie will be tough to beat at $2.75 with Playup. 

Following on in the betting is Dominetta, yet another horse off the Gai Waterhouse conveyor belt and it will surely relish going up against a stable mate here. There will be very little to split the top two, which is represented in the slender odds difference at $4.20 with Bet365. 

Prolific racing stock continues to make up the field, with both Froebel Star and Bank Book seemingly in with good chances for their yards at $5.50 and $7.00 respectively with Punterspal.  

Another A$1 million contest is on the cards in race 7, with the Magic Millions Snippets promising to be a fascinating contest. There are plenty of horses in this race that have a fierce reputation with both old and new betting sites, adding an increased sense of intrigue to this one.

With a day of racing as packed as Magic Millions Day, choosing which contest to get on board with is never easy but the Magic Millions Snippets in race 7 has an electrifying field.

Some of the biggest horses around are chasing the AS1 million prize pot and there will be plenty in contention over the 1200m trip.  

Although there are heaps of horses in this one, it is King of Sparta that looks to be the pick of the bunch – a horse that has clinched over A$2.5 million in prize money in a decorated career. 

Despite not having won too much of late, King of Sparta comes from serious stock and with James McDonald on board, connections will be very confident it can get the job done in this field at $1.85 with Punterspal.  

The prices rise quite sharply from there on, with Rose Quartz the most eye-catching offering for punters looking for value. The Graham Begg trained 7-year-old has had a fluctuating career, but it has plenty of pace and the 1200m trip could be ideal at a very healthy $9.00 with Playup. 

Elsewhere, the likes of Nettuno and Shooting For Gold are two horses that have recent wins and placings in their locker and in this relatively open field, they both represent good value at $9.50 and $11.00 respectively with Bet365. 

One of the bumper offerings on Magic Millions Day is race 8 and with a remarkable A$3 million in the prize pot, there is plenty on offer for the biggest names in the world of Australian racing. 

The 2-year-old classic will be a fascinating encounter, with so much untapped potential on offer and over a brisk 1200m, it could be fast and furious. 
 
Gold Coast Magic Millions 2-year-old Classic 

Some of the most exciting horses in Australia line up here, with the carrot of A$3 million simply adding to the drama and intrigue surrounding this one at Gold Coast. 

In a congested betting market, it is Storm Boy who tops the betting. The latest speedster from the Gai Waterhouse machine and with two wins from two career starts, the future looks very bright for Storm Boy, who is the strong favourite for this one at $2.60 with Bet365. 

A similar profile can be lodged for Spywire, a Ciaron Maher flyer who has won 2 of its 3 career races and it looks to be a name to keep an eye on in the future. In a race with plenty of potential winners, Spywire looks to be one to watch at $6.00 with Playup. 

Picking the horses most likely to challenge the established order in this one is no easy contest but both Highness and Parkour have big-race experience and could be in the running here at $6.00 and $11.00 respectively with Punterspal.
