Flemington hosts a superb 8-race offering on Saturday, with some fascinating contests in prospect.

The card at Flemington on Saturday is absolutely jam-packed and despite the fact there is only 8 races for punters to get on board with, there is plenty for all levels of gambler and Aussie bookmaker to get their teeth into. The headline act is Race 5 at Flemington, the Newmarket Handicap and this should be an absolute thriller.

Group 1 contests ran over a mere 1200m are truly blink and you’ll miss it events and once again at Flemington, all of the best in the business are lining up for a piece of the pie here.

There is A$1.5 million up for grabs, which only adds to the overall sense of occasion here and it should be unmissable viewing.

All of the pre-race hype surrounds Imperatriz, a horse that has been a phenomenon this season and who looks to be primed and ready for a race such as this. With over A$6 million in prize money bagged, Imperatriz knows what it takes to win races like this, and it will take some stopping at $2.50 with Playup.

Key competition appears in the form of Buenos Noches, a horse that has consistently done the business in recent years but is perhaps a yard or two short, when takes with keeping with Imperatriz. It won’t be a forgone conclusion though and Buenos Noches is certainly worth getting behind at $5.00 with Bet365.

Elsewhere, both Magic Time and Bella Nipotina make serious claims here, with both horses having been in good form of late and they cannot be discarded from challenging at $7.50 and $12.00 respectively with Punterspal. 

The big races keep on piling in at Flemington, which is music to the ears of both old and new betting sites alike, with the Group 3 Furphy Shaftesbury Avenue Handicap up next. Plenty of exciting horses line up here too and this looks to be another race that has something for everyone.

The most open field of the day is saved for the final race at Flemington, with some fantastic horses all chasing a potentially career changing win. There is A$200,000 in the prize pool in this Group 3 contest and it should be an excellent way to end a good day of racing at Flemington.

Matron Stakes

With such activity in the betting markets and no clear and obvious favourite, this is arguably the standout field of the day here at Flemington. The horse that looks to have topped the early betting is Unusual Culture, an exciting Kiwi horse that has picked up some very decent results in its last few outings. Going all the way and winning a race like this would be a serious statement but Unusual Culture is certainly an exciting prospect, who looks to be well priced at $4.60 with Bet365.

Next up in the betting ring is Eternal Flame, another Kiwi horse that is transitioning well onto the Australian scene and who also looks to have bags of pace for a contest like this. Eternal Flame will be well backed here and is also one of the front runners at $4.60 with Playup.

A pair of Foxy horses line up next, with Foxy Frida and Foxy Cleopatra both making serious claims and don’t be surprised to see either of them kicking on and enjoying a good run here at $4.80 and $5.50 respectively with Punterspal.
