Race 3: BM 78 Handicap

Whilst there will be plenty of attention naturally diverted to the Golden Rose pre-cursors at Rosehill Gardens this weekend, there are plenty of other strong races on the card, with race 3 housing a strong BM 78 Handicap.

BM 78 Handicap

Opening races on a card as intriguing as this at Rosehill Gardens can carry plenty of value and there is plenty for both betting apps and punters to get behind here in race 3.

A Class 3 Handicap race, with a hefty $160,000 in the prize pool, all of the owners, trainers and jockeys will be doing their utmost to get over the line in this one.

Catching the eye in the betting is Kiwi chaser Too Much Caviar, an experienced horse for its tender age of 6 and a recent 2nd place offering here just three weeks ago, is music to the ears of punters and bookies alike.

Too Much Caviar should have too much for the chasing pack if things go its way at $2.00 with Playup.

Front and centre in terms of competition is fellow Kiwi offering Duke of Hastings, a speedy horse that comes into this one fresh off the back of a good win at Moonee Valley last time out. This is a step up in calibre, but the Duke is a good horse and it has strong claims here at $3.75 with Bet365.

Making up the card in this one looks to be a few horses that could turn it on at any stage but are yet to really produce the strong performances in their career. Both Yukon and Casual Connection come from seriously strong yards and they do both look to have outside shots at $11.00 and $12.00 respectively with Punterspal

Race 7: Ming Dynasty Quality Stakes

Young horses always present an opportunity for punters to cash in on some untapped potential and the Ming Dynasty Quality Stakes will be picking up plenty of traction with old and new betting sites alike.

With a quarter of a million dollars in the prize pot, the thought of the Golden Rose later in the season is certainly picking up momentum at Rosehill Gardens and this should be a very good race.

Ming Dynasty Quality Stakes

In an inexperienced field, it is the steadily raced Tom Kitten that is creating the most interest with Aussie bookmakers. Winning over course and distance just three weeks will certainly give connections confidence ahead of this one, despite the fact the field is a stronger one.

This should be a tough test for Tom Kitten but at $3.95 with Punterspal it is the favourite to prevail in this one

Next up in the betting is another horse with plenty of potential, Encap. With two places from four outings, Encap has hardly set the world alight, but it is a horse that comes from serious stock, and it should go very well in this one.

At $4.65 with Playup, Encap looks to be in with a serious shot here, having finished 3rd behind Tom Kitten last time out.

With the whole field in this one lacking in experience, two extremely lightly raced horses could present decent value shots. Both Raf Attack and Ashfall have impressed in their two respective career outings so far and they could both be in the mix at $10.00 and $13.00 respectively – both with Bet365.

Race 8: Run to the Rose

The Golden Rose at Rosehill Gardens at the end of September is one of the highlights of the international racing calendar and the build-up has begun in earnest. The aptly named Run to the Rose is a superb Group 2 offering, with A$300,000 in the mix too – meaning there is plenty on the line in this one.

Topping the betting is the prolific Cylinder, a horse that continues to churn out the results for connections and with over A$2 million earned in a stellar career, Cylinder is a horse that could rip up any field. Conditions should suit in this one too and at $2.05 with Bet365, clearly nobody can see past Cylinder in this one.

Such is the prestige of this race that there are plenty of decent horses lining up to challenge Cylinder, who will have to be at the top of its game. Libertad is one of the most exciting prospects around currently, with a 100% winning record and this promises to be a sprint for the ages.

The 3-year-old romped home at Rosehill Gardens just two weeks ago and is more than in with a shout at $4.65 with Playup.

Getting past Cylinder and Libertad will be a tall order but both Butch Cassidy and Moravia have outside chances, in a race packed with quality. Staying in the hunt and hoping for mistakes will perhaps be the tactic but at $8.50 and $15.00 respectively, both horses have outside and placing claims with Punterspal.
