Saturday Racing Tips - Geelong 06/01/24

2024 gets underway with an excellent roster at Geelong on the first Saturday of the year. With 10 contests to get on board with, there is plenty for punters to get behind with all Aussie bookmakers.

The opening race of the day promises to be a belter and there are a whole host of big name horses in the mix with the biggest and best Aussie bookmakers. With the going set to be good, it could be a frenetic opener to a super day of racing in Geelong.  
 
Ran over 1700m, this should be a brilliant contest, with an array of exciting prospects looking to lay down claims within the Victorian racing scene.

Picking up a read from the first race of the day is always an important task that meets both punters and bookmakers and the opener here at Geelong should be a very good one. 
A blend of youth and experience in the field makes it an open contest and the 1700m trip should enable horses and jockeys to travel with a bit more freedom.  

The horse to beat in the betting ring is Fretta, a British 4-year-old that has taken to life in Australia with absolute ease. Wins at Bendigo and Sandown have propelled Fretta into the minds of many punters and bookmakers here and it is the horse to beat at $2.00 with Playup. 

There are plenty of other horses in the mix too that have the credentials to challenge, with Cradle of Life arguably the pick of the bunch. Plenty of interesting horses also make claims here, with both Eishaa and Star Vega coming from seriously good stock, and they should both be in the running from the outset at $7.00 and $14.00 respectively with Punterspal.  

The theme continues in race 5, with more exciting and raw horses looking to force their way into the wider racing picture with both old and new betting sites. With a rather handy A$175,000 in the prize pot, everyone will be eager to put in a performance in this one and there are some hot prospects declared on the race card.

An eclectic mix of horses find themselves declared for race 5, with the 1100m contest at Geelong set to be fast and furious from the outset.  

Whilst there is a lack of experience across the card, it is the lightly raced Carbonados who looks to be the one to beat. Romping home in its only career outing so far at New Plymouth, Carbonados looks to be a horse to keep an eye on for years to come but this is the first real contest it will face. On paper, Carbonados is certainly the horse to beat here at $2.20 with Punterspal.  

A similar narrative can be painted for Trapeze Warrior, another 3-year-old who looks to have the credentials to have a seriously successful career ahead. Also operating from 1 win from 1 start at Cranbourne, it is certainly one to keep an eye on in an open field here at $4.40 with Playup. 

Two more experiences contenders sit next in the betting, with Gitalong and Spicy Margs both having more miles in the legs in races such as this. Both horses have the capabilities to win this one, but they will need to keep up with the pace at $6.00 and $20.00 respectively with Bet365. 

The big races continue to come from Geelong, with the Bet 365 Coastal Classic the headline offering on a packed day of contests. There is an array of big-name horses, jockeys, and trainers in race 8, all looking to pick up valuable race wins and prize money at the start of 2024. 

With A$300,000 in the prize pot, this 1700m trip should be perfect for the field assembled and there are plenty in with a shout from the outset here.

A varied assortment of horses compile this exciting field here at Geelong, with some sharp prospects going head-to-head with some of the more experienced campaigners in Victorian racing. 

Topping the betting is Keats, an Irish flyer who has enjoyed a distinguished career and this looks to be the perfect distance here at Geelong. With 4 placings this season and one race win, Keats does look to be in the form of its life, and it is the one to beat here at $5.00 with Bet365. 

Kiwi offering Bermadez is another horse that is sure to want to front run in this race and conditions should suit perfectly. Back to back second place finishes in the last month will give punters real confidence and it should be another one to keep an eye on at $5.50 with Playup. 

The big-name contenders continue, with Holymanz and Junipal both giving Ciaran Maher good chances here and they should both be treated with respect in the betting ring at $5.50 and $8.00 respectively with Punterspal.
