The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a race on the Australian calendar which always incites interest, due to the high-quality nature of the field. Once again, the 2024 edition of the race was billed as a contest of some of the best in the land but Pride of Jenni blew away the field, in a performance that will live long in the memory for those who witnessed it, as well as punters and online betting sites.
Bagging Group 1 race wins is the ultimate accolade for any trainer, horse and connections and Pride of Jenni has been one of the stories of 2024 so far.
The 6-year-old mare has seriously come of age this season and is now a front runner for every race she lines up in with all punters and Aussie bookmakers.
She wasn’t however seen as one of the absolute favourites for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on Saturday 13th April, something she quickly rectified once she got out of the starting blocks.
Pride in performance
Hyperbole and exaggeration are pillars on which the whole horse racing world is built but the performance by Pride of Jenni at Randwick has been regarded by experts as one of the best of all time.
It was Via Sistina, not Pride of Jenni, who was the hot favourite for this race and whilst plenty of bets had come into back Pride of Jenni, it was not one of the front runners for the race with many online betting sites and it is the favourite once again in 2024.
However, over just 2000m, Pride of Jenni opened up a 6.5 length winning margin over Via Sistina, in a performance that has etched her into Australian racing’s elite.
Shock through the field
Whilst Pride of Jenni is one of the most notorious horses in Australia under Ciaron Maher, there were plenty of other horses in the field who were set to go well at Randwick.
Via Sistina is the pride pick for Chris Waller and with James McDonald on board, Via Sistina was the odds-on favourite for this contest, but she simply could not live with Pride of Jenni’s pace.
Meanwhile, old adversary Mr Brightside also looked primed and ready to push Pride of Jenni over 2000m, but he too simply could not handle the pace, with a sense of shock reverberating through the field.
Deadly Declan
The combination of Declan Bates on board Pride of Jenni has brought about some excellent results and that dynamic duo bore fruit once more for many Australian horse racing betting apps at Randwick.
For all the superlatives levelled at Pride of Jenni, Bates’s ride on board her was a masterclass and the combination looks to be working a treat for Ciaron Maher.
Inevitably attention will turn to the next races on the card for Pride of Jenni, with extra scrutiny sure to be on her but the 6-year-old is full of running and confidence and she will be a force to be reckoned with in 2024 and beyond.
The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a huge contest on the global racing calendar and Pride of Jenni was a remarkable winner of the 2024 edition.
Romping home by 7 lengths from the likes of Via Sistina and Mr Brightside, Pride of Jenni put in a statement performance and she is being backed for further big things by many horse racing online betting sites in 2024.
