Staying in the Premier League is huge business and for Nottingham Forest, preserving their status in the top flight is essential.
Having stayed up comfortably last season and with a summer of investment, Nottingham Forest weren’t seen as a threat to go down with many
online betting sites.
However, it has been a tough start to the season for Forest and they have decided to sack Steve Cooper.
Nuno Espirito Santo the new man in charge
Managerial changes afoot at Nottingham Forest
News Insights
- Steve Cooper has been relieved of his duties at Nottingham Forest.
- The Welshman took Forest from bottom of the Championship to the Premier League promised land.
- Results have turned however and Forest sit 17th in Premier League table.
- Former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been appointed as Cooper’s replacement.
Cult hero Cooper
Having made his name as the England Under 17 manager when the Young Lions won the U17’s World Cup in 2017, Steve Cooper has a superb managerial reputation.
When he joined Forest in the Autumn of 2021, the Tricky Trees were languishing in the Championship relegation zone.
Cooper’s revitalization at Forest was seismic, getting them promoted in his first season and achieving Premier League stability in his second campaign.
Packed player roster
In addition to the actual challenge of staying in the Premier League, Steve Cooper was able to successfully negotiate the constant incomings at Nottingham Forest.
With an enigmatic ownership team at Forest constantly bringing new players through the door at the City Ground, Cooper had to manage over 25 new imports to the club in the summer of 2022.
The likes of Jesse Lingard, Jonjo Shelvey and Divock Origi have all been brought in with big fanfare, but limited effect and Cooper has acted with dignity throughout.
Nuno to the rescue?
With just three wins in the Premier League all season, Nottingham Forest are now seen as a real relegation candidate with many Premier League betting apps.
Moving Cooper on has not been a hugely popular move with many Forest fans but the decision has been made and all parties must move on.
Former Wolves and Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo struggled in his last Premier League role but the brief is simple this season, keep Forest up and build again for 2024/25.
