Erik ten Hag remains under pressure at Manchester United

Despite being the most successful club in the Premier League era, it has been over a decade since Manchester United truly managed to compete in the Premier League. 
 
They are now seen as an addendum by online betting sites when it comes to winning the EPL title but a European football push is the minimum expected. 
 
Losses to Bournemouth and Newcastle United have once again shone the microscope on the shortcomings at Old Trafford currently. 

Ten Hag the right man for the job? 

Midway through his second season as the Manchester United manager, the jury is still out on the effectiveness of Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. 
 
The Dutchman brought a trophy to Old Trafford last season, winning the Carabao Cup but has had little to shout about otherwise. 
 
Dropping to 6th in the Premier League table is not where many United fans expected to be at this stage of the season and there clearly is work to be done. 
 
No longer part of the European elite

Whilst it may be tough for United and their fans to accept, Manchester United are simply not the force they once were. 
 
Much fanfare was made about United qualifying for the Champions League this season, but they have fallen at the first hurdle. 
 
To add insult to injury, United finished bottom of Group A, with Bayern Munich and FC Copenhagen progressing and Galatasaray regressing to the Europa League, United are not playing European football anymore this season. 
 
What next for United? 

It has been a hugely entertaining start to the 2023/24 EPL season, with the destination of the title very much unknown by most EPL betting apps. 

However, United are not currently in the mix for glory – sitting 10 points off Liverpool at the top of the table. 

A crossroads looks to be very much facing United as they head into the Christmas period. 

Either they will bounce back under Erik ten Hag – as they have done previously, or the problems will continue to mount at Old Trafford – adding to the vitriol around the club currently.
