About BuffaloBet
Okay, let’s not sugarcoat it – there are a lot of similarities between all of these new betting sites opening up using the BetCloud platform. There’s the websites themselves, for a start – navigationally they are all identical, though that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It is popular for a reason after all, and BuffaloBet Australia adds to the platform itself with an easy on the eye aesthetic.
Other elements that don’t vary all that much across these new bookies include customer support platforms and payment options, and BuffaloBet is certainly not breaking any new ground in these regards. Their customer support platform does what it needs to do, offering live chat and email for those in need, while the payment platform includes only the tried and true methods of debit/credit card and bank transfer.
But while there is no denying these similarities, BuffaloBet is still its own betting site with its own unique features, starting with its range of markets and odds. This bookie performs pretty well in both of these areas. They don’t have the widest range of sports available, but they do have a huge selection of markets for popular sports, and the odds are right around the industry average, which is good for a new betting site.
When it comes to racing, the odds are similar to what you’ll find with sports. This component of the site is relatively simple with limited information outside of the basic facts about each runner, but BuffaloBet Australia provides a nice little point of difference by providing both Blended bets and Same Race Multis.
You’ll have the option to access all these on a quality app, too. These are pretty part and parcel of most betting sites nowadays, but some of the new ones take a little while to get them up and running. BuffaloBet Australia has ensured there was minimal lag between the launch of their desktop site and that of their app, and the very small wait that there was was worth it.
There are certainly a couple of features that you would find on bigger sites that you won’t find here, with things like live streaming and live betting notable absentees from BuffaloBet’s range of services. But if you’re after a streamlined betting experience and solid odds, then you can’t go to wrong with BuffaloBet.
OldGill Review Pros & Cons (+ Verdict)
Below, we take a look at the most significant pros and cons we found from betting with BuffaloBet
👍BuffaloBet Strengths
- Solid range of sports markets for major leagues: One of the major advantages of betting with BuffaloBet is the range of markets that they have for the bigger sports leagues, with upwards of 500 different betting options on most matchups in leagues like the NBA and NFL.
- Competitive odds: Plenty of new betting sites struggle to produce competitive odds, and while those at BuffaloBet are not exactly industry-leading, they are certainly competitive, particularly for sports markets.
- Quality app: A good app is an absolute must for bookies in this day and age, with the ability to bet on the go so important to lots of punters. Buffalo Bet, despite being a new betting site, have clearly put an emphasis on fulfilling this need, creating a really solid betting app.
👎BuffaloBet Weaknesses
- Limited payment options: This one might not be too big a deal for lots of customers, but there are only a couple of different payment options available with BuffaloBet.Subpar range of sports available: While the range of markets for the big leagues is really good at BuffaloBet, the actual number of different sports on offer is pretty limited.
- Subpar range of sports available: While the range of markets for the big leagues is really good at BuffaloBet, the actual number of different sports on offer is pretty limited.
- No live betting: Live betting has become an increasingly popular way to bet in recent years, but unfortunately you will not be able to do it with BuffaloBet, who have not yet joined the rank of live betting sites.
👨⚖️BuffaloBet Bookmaker Verdict
As with all bookies, BuffaloBet has its good and its bad points. If you’re someone who loves live betting or punting on obscure sports then you will probably be pretty turned off by the above weaknesses, but if you’re into good odds, a wide range of markets and a quality app, then the pros will more than likely outweigh the above cons.
BuffaloBet Features
Standing out from what is a very heavily populated crowd of betting sites is not particularly easy, but BuffaloBet has a couple of features that help them to do that. These are not unique to BuffaloBet by any means, but they are not available everywhere and so do add a little point of difference for this bookie.
Same Race Multi
Same game multis have taken the betting world by storm, but same race multis have not become quite as heavily advertised, nor as widely available. In fact, plenty of betting sites do not offer this form of betting, but BuffaloBet Australia does. Essentially, this allows you to bet on multiple outcomes happening within the one race. You’ll have the option to bet on every runner in the race to finish top 4, top 3, top 2 or to win – so for example, you might place a two-leg multi betting on one runner to finish top 2, and another to finish top 4. An algorithm which is well beyond the understanding of us mere mortals then comes up with the odds for those two correlated events to occur. This is a fun way to bet on racing which enables you to follow multiple runners in the same race, and adds an added dimension to your horse racing betting experience.
Same Game Multi
In a similar vein to same race multis, same game multis have revolutionised the way you can bet on sports. But unlike its racing counterpart, this one has become wildly popular. It’s the focal point of most betting adverts, and betting sites that offer it plaster the option to use it all over any given game page. But not all same game multis are made equal. Some sites have a pretty clunky same game multi page, don’t offer all that many markets, and generally provide pretty abysmal odds – as in, you’ll combine two $2 legs and end up with a $3 multi. But BuffaloBet are pretty good in this regard. They’ve got a really wide range of sports markets in general, and most of these are available in same game multis, most notably their array of player props. The odds that you will get are also pretty competitive, in line with the odds for single markets – not exactly the best in the industry, but better than a hell of a lot of other bookies.
BuffaloBet Odds
Maybe it goes without saying, but odds are pretty important when it comes to betting. And while the differences for most markets between different betting sites might not appear major, these small differences can add up over time, and in certain markets the odds can actually differ pretty drastically.
Small betting sites are generally the main culprits for offering subpar odds, but Buffalo Bet is an exception to that trend. Across the board, be it for regular sports betting markets, player props or racing markets, their odds are consistently solid – absolutely not the best in the industry, but far from the worst, too.
Their racing odds are probably a little inferior on average to their sports odds, but they’re not too bad either. Scanning down the list of runners in a few different races, I found that their odds are generally on the lower end of the spectrum relative to other betting sites, but not bottom of the barrel. Interestingly, this was pretty inconsistent among different runners – within the same race, for example, there were generally a couple of runners with favourable odds compared to other bookies, and a few with pretty average ones. This means that BuffaloBet are certainly worth checking out if you’re betting on racing, because some runners are likely to have pretty decent odds, albeit not all of them.
In terms of sports, BuffaloBet very consistently finds itself right around industry average. For line bets, for example, they will generally be at or around $1.88 or $1.89 for each handicapped team, which is reasonably generous but not at the level of some other bookies – you can take a look at all their lines and over/unders for a day of basketball action on the screenshot below.
As for more obscure markets like player props, they are once again around the middle of the pack. You’ll certainly find some bookies, particularly the big ones, offering better prop odds, but equally these are markets for which which some betting sites really take advantage of punters and offer pretty bad odds. BuffaloBet Australia is not one of them.
Overall, the odds at BuffaloBet are pretty reasonable. You’ll find that whatever you’re betting on, they consistently have odds around the middle of the road, so while you won’t be getting the absolute best odds in the business, you’ll never get bad ones at BuffaloBet either.
BuffaloBet Markets
The markets available at BuffaloBet are an interesting one, with this new betting site following a pretty similar trend to a lot of the other bookies that launched in 2024.
Let’s start with sports. To be clear, BuffaloBet does not have a wide range of different sports available. As you can see in the screenshot below, only nine are available at the time of writing, though a couple of them are pretty niche sports like darts and snooker, so you can’t exactly accuse them of not offering the less popular ones.
Obviously the available sports also varies at different points of the year, too. Come winter time, you’ll clearly have rugby league and Australian rules football available, for example, so this number might tick up at different parts of the year.
And while they don’t have an enormous range of sports available, there is a really generous selection of markets on offer for the sports that are there. For things like the NFL and NBA, and when the seasons come around, NRL and AFL, every market you could possibly dream of is available at BuffaloBet, with upwards of 500 markets available on basically every game in these leagues.
When it comes to racing, there obviously isn’t all that much difference from one bookie to the next in terms of what is on offer. BuffaloBet, like all betting sites, has markets for every race in Australia and anything of significance around the world, and offers all the regular win/place and exotics to bet on. You can also bet using the popular ‘Blended’ method, while for some meets you can put on a Same Race Multi, too. You can also opt to bet using the tote odds instead of BuffaloBet’s fixed odds.
In all, there is a pretty solid selection of markets available with BuffaloBet. That they have both Blended and Same Race Multis on offer gives them a point of difference in their racing markets, and while they could benefit from adding more sports to their array of offerings, there are plenty of markets to sink your teeth into for the leagues most people are betting on.
BuffaloBet Live Betting
Unfortunately, one of the major things lacking from BuffaloBet is live betting. This is pretty commonplace for new bookies, who don’t generally enter the betting industry with live betting as a service straight off the bat, but as a punter you probably don’t care about the reasons why this might not be there – if you want to place a live bet and it’s not available, you’ll take your business elsewhere.
Most punters don’t bet exclusively on live betting markets, so it’s not likely to complete exclude too many people from trying out BuffaloBet, but there is no doubt that the addition of this form of betting would be a valuable addition.
BuffaloBet App
I remember a few years ago – okay, maybe 15 – heading to a tech store and being told to buy an iPhone, with the concept of ‘apps’ being a major reason why they were becoming so popular. I had no idea what the hell an app was. Fast forward to 2024, and every business under the sun has one. The betting industry is no exception, with the vast majority of bookies boasting not just betting apps, but really good ones – apps that make it easier to bet on your mobile than on your laptop.
It's a little annoying when these aren’t available, and even though, when they aren’t, you can generally just use the mobile version of the desktop, there is no denying that apps are easier, and with so many bookies around these days, the absence of one can be really detrimental to a betting site’s ability to attract customers.
But despite being a complete newbie on the betting scene, BuffaloBet Australia already has a really high quality app that you can use to access all of their services. Whether you want to place a (Buffalo)bet, contact customer support, deposit money, or even open an account, you can do it all quickly and easily on your iOS or Android device via the BuffaloBet app, which is available wherever it is that you get your apps from.
The app is a really good one, too. It maintains the blue aesthetic of the desktop site, while formatting everything in a way that makes it easy to navigate on the much smaller mobile phone screen. When using BuffaloBet, I instinctively find myself using their app more than the desktop site – and that’s no criticism of the desktop site. Even if I have my computer open, I’ll tend to reach for the app such is the ease of use. It’s responsive, intuitive and super easy to bet with, and is one of the better features of BuffaloBet.
BuffaloBet Promotions
Promotions are one of the main tools that betting sites have to attract new customers, and back in the day a good promo could literally be the determining reason that a punter would choose to initially deposit with a particular betting site, and subsequently stay with them. However, gone are the days when betting sites can publish the promotions that they have.
Australian rules and regulations dictate that the bookies can’t publish what promotions they have on offer unless you are a signed up customer and logged into your account. The same applies for us – we can’t specifically tell you about BuffaloBet’s current promotions, though given that they change all the time there wouldn’t be all that much point regardless.
What we can tell you is that their promotions are generally pretty cookie-cutter. You won’t find any bonuses that are really breaking the mold at BuffaloBet, but that’s probably something you could say about most bookies. They’ll have a few standard promos running at any given time, but these probably aren’t the reason you’ll be choosing to bet with BuffaloBet.
BuffaloBet Withdrawal
Very few new bookmakers bother with the myriad of different potential payment options that exist these days, and BuffaloBet is no different. While some betting sites – generally the bigger ones – will offer up to ten or even more payment methods, BuffaloBet keeps their payment platform simple, as they do with most things.
When you’re depositing, you will have a couple of options – debit/credit card, and bank transfer. I use debit/credit card regardless of how many options are available, so this is perfectly fine by me. All you need is a VISA or MasterCard, and you can deposit a minimum of $10 into your BuffaloBet account which will be immediately available. If you’d prefer to use bank transfer for whatever reason, there is again a minimum deposit of $10, and this one will take a little while to get into your account.
If you manage to win yourself a bit of coin and want to withdraw it, then you’ll be stuck using bank transfer, though this is the case with most bookies. Again, the minimum withdrawal here is $10, and you’ll need to wait a little while for it to get to your bank account – if you’re lucky it might arrive the same day, but most likely it will be one or two business days until it gets there.
The platform is relatively easy to use, particularly for deposits! This is always the case with bookies – they make it super easy to deposit, but you’ll have to go through the verification process and occasionally a few other issues to withdraw. Having said that, in my experience withdrawing with BuffaloBet Australia I’ve never had any issues, so I wouldn’t want to blame them for issues people have had with other bookies.
Overall there is nothing that particularly stands out about the Buffalo Bet payment platform, but it doesn’t need to. All you want to do is be able to deposit and withdraw your money, and though they have very limited options through which you can do that, the options they do provide should be enough for nearly everyone.
BuffaloBet Customer Support
As with banking, customer support platforms across new betting sites are usually pretty uniform. Given so many of these new bookies use the BetCloud platform, you access these platforms in the same way – by clicking the ‘Contact Us’ button on the left-hand side of the home page, and then clicking on the bubble that will subsequently open up on the bottom right of your screen.
When you’re using BuffaloBet, doing this will give you the option to utilise their live chat platform. This lets you speak directly to an agent about whatever query it is that you’ve got. Usually it’s a pretty quick process in my experience, though if you’ve got something a bit more complex that needs resolving you might prefer to send through an email.
You can send through any questions you have to service@buffalobet.com.au, and when I’ve done this I’ve generally got a response within a day. It’s a slower process than live chat, but it does mean you can go about your day in the meantime and can be a little easier to get certain things sorted out using this platform.
Unfortunately there is no phone number that you can contact for customer support with BuffaloBet, though they are far from alone as a new betting site without a phone number.
It’s not a customer support platform that is anything to write home about, but it doesn’t need to be either. It serves its purpose by providing a couple of different mediums to contact Buffalo Bet through, which is all you need in a customer support platform.
FAQs About BuffaloBet
Take a look at our answers to some commonly asked questions about BuffaloBet.
Is BuffaloBet available outside of Australia?
Nope. Just like all other Australian betting sites, you can only access BuffaloBet if you are inside Australia.
Does BuffaloBet offer live streaming?
Unfortunately, BuffaloBet does not offer live streaming at this time. Very few new bookies will offer this service – it’s more something generally reserved for the titans of the industry, though if they do grow who knows, perhaps they will fork out for some broadcast rights.
Who owns BuffaloBet?
BuffaloBet is owned by Damien McGrath, who also previously owned Winbet – a betting site that launched back in 2021.
Does BuffaloBet offer esports betting?
Esports has become a niche form of betting with a decent little following, popularised to a large extent by Picklebet. Unfortunately, Buffalo Bet does not offer any markets in this area at this time.
Does BuffaloBet offer NRL betting?
Yep, they do. Obviously during the summer there are no NRL games to bet on, so as you might remember from the screenshot above which showed all the sports available with BuffaloBet, rugby league was a notable omission. Once the season comes around, however, you will find more than enough NRL markets to sink your teeth into.
Conclusion & Final Thoughts
BuffaloBet isn’t exactly breaking the mold in any particular way, but they aren’t trying to either. They are a really solid betting service that provides an easy-to-use desktop and mobile app on which to punt, and offers a good range of markets, solid odds and a couple of nifty features. There is nothing that will blow your mind at this bookie, nothing that you will have never seen before, but like a good sports team, they do the fundamentals well, and the end product is a solid one as a result.
