Aaron Finch’s BBL career in doubt

In the modern age, few batters have possessed the levels of devastation and brutality with the bat that Aaron Finch has. 

A mainstay in a superb era of Australian cricket, Finch made the top of the order his own and has been a huge part of Aussie successes in both 50-over and T20 cricket. 

BBL 13 has been a tournament that has fascinated punters at online betting sites, but ‘Finchy’ hasn’t fired as yet in the tournament. 

With his side the Melbourne Renegades struggling for form, Finch, and captain Nic Maddinson have been dropped – with Finch’s cricketing career potentially coming to an end. 

Ferocious Finch 

Hailing from Victoria, Aaron Finch has been regarded as one of the best international batters for the past decade or so. 
 
His fierce approach at the top of the order saw him play over 100 ODI’s and T20’s for Australia – averaging the best part of 40 with the bat in both sides. 
 
Such was his form in 2018, that Finch – who had been regarded as a limited overs specialist – was called up for the Australian Test side. 
 
One of the pioneers of franchise cricket, Finch continues to ply his trade all over the world, striking fear into bowling attacks globally. 
 
Revamping the Renegades

The past few seasons have been particularly barren for the Melbourne Renegades in the BBL and BBL 13 started in much the same vein. 

Without a win in their opening 5 games, the Renegades were languishing at the foot of the BBL table and in need of some inspiration. 

Finch, along with club captain Nic Maddinson were dropped from the playing XI against the Adelaide Strikers, and the impact of the change was instant. 

A comfortable 4-wicket win over the Strikers followed, with experts left wondering as to whether Finch would be seen in BBL action again. 

Lasting legacy 

The way in which the BBL has become one of the world leading T20 competitions, alongside the Indian Premier League, is down to figures such as Aaron Finch. 
 
A mainstay in all 12 previous editions of the BBL, Finch’s destructive hitting at the top of the order has been compelling viewing. 
 
Whilst plenty of bowling attacks will be pleased to see the back of Aaron Finch, his legacy on limited overs cricket in Australia, specifically within the BBL, will long live on, regardless of whether he has played his last game for the Melbourne Renegades.
