The final stretch is very much upon us in the 2023 AFL season and Collingwood find themselves at the top of the tree.

Port Adelaide faltered last weekend, coming down heavily to Carlton – in a result not predicted by many AFL betting sites and the race for the title is in the hands of the Magpies.

Elsewhere, top 4 and top 8 finishes are the order of the day for most teams, with play-off football the main aim.

Consistency has plagued both of these sides throughout the 2023 AFL season and both sides will be desperate to hold it together, with the end of the campaign on the horizon.

Just one win from their last four matches has left Essendon in 8th place, nervously looking over their shoulder to the sides chasing them for a top 8 spot. Form and points have been hard to come by and they look to be playing within themselves somewhat.

By contrast, the Western Bulldogs have shifted above them to 7th in the AFL table and although they suffered narrow defeats to both Sydney and Collingwood in their last two games, they look to be playing with real purpose.

The magnitude of this game is huge in relation to the respective seasons of both sides, but it looks to be a good match up for the Bulldogs – who could well prevail here.

It is the one we have all been waiting for, with betting sites the world over getting heavily involved with Collingwood’s table-topping trip to Port Adelaide.

Two sides that have endured relatively disappointing seasons are set to do battle at Optus Stadium, as Fremantle welcome Sydney.

It doesn’t seem too long ago that Fremantle were sneaking into the mix for a top 8 finish but their run of three consecutive losses has pushed them down to 15th in the table, with serious work to do.

Meanwhile, the Sydney Swans are battling their way through the 2023 AFL season, but they can still force their way into playoff contention with a handful of games to play.

A tight win over the Western Bulldogs will give the Swans a lift but with only one away win since the middle of May, they have no real form to speak of and Fremantle could well pick up a much-needed win here.
