AFL 2024 Round 10

The 2024 AFL season is very much into its stride and there are a whole host of sides chasing glory this season. Both the Sydney Swans and the GWS Giants are setting the pace this term, whilst Geelong and Essendon are also firmly in the mix. This should be another bumper weekend of fixtures and there are plenty of betting chances out there for AFL punters with all AFL betting sites

Gold Coast vs Geelong

After starting the season so well, the Geelong Cats will be looking to bounce back after a couple of defeats, as they take on Gold Coast. For the hosts, this is a fixture where they get to test themselves against one of the very best sides in the division and a win here for Gold Coast could see them surge up into the playoff places. Meanwhile, Geelong need to ensure that their couple of recent losses don’t completely check their strong progress made at the start of the season. This is a game that is generating plenty of attention with all punters and AFL betting sites, with Geelong most likely to pick up the win on the road.

Sydney vs Carlton

Table-toping Sydney welcome the Carlton Blues to the SCG, in what looks to be one of the biggest games of the season so far. The Swans have been in fine fettle throughout the campaign, and they look to be amongst the favourites for the 2024 AFL title with plenty of punters and small betting sites. The same could be said of the Carlton Blues, who continue to grind out the results this term and who knows how far they could go too in 2024. This should be a super one, with home advantage potentially the difference for Sydney.

Collingwood vs Adelaide

Defending AFL champions Collingwood have taken a fair while to hit their stride this season, but they now look to be firing on all cylinders. Next up is a meeting with Adelaide, a side who have lacked consistency this season but who are very dangerous on the day – particularly against the ‘bigger’ teams in the competition. Whilst the odds do look to be a little over-egged for this one, Collingwood are a very short price for a reason and they should win well here, at a raucous MCG.

GWS Giants vs Western Bulldogs

Whilst it certainly isn’t crisis mode for the GWS Giants, the fact remains that they are starting to lose ground in the AFL title race this season and they need to respond quickly. Next up is a visit from the Western Bulldogs, a side that are always dangerous on their day and who will be bang up for this challenge. This is a tough one to call but the GWS Giants are a good side, and they should are strong favourites to pick up a home win here with many AFL betting sites.

Brisbane vs Richmond

It has been a slow start to the season for both Brisbane and Richmond and the pair face off at the Gabba, in need of points. For the Brisbane Lions, the start of the 2024 campaign has been very disappointing but recent results have suggested that they may be ready to turn things around. No such optimism has been afforded to Richmond however, who have just one win on the card from 9 games and they look to be in wooden spoon territory. This will be one-way traffic, with Brisbane ready to pick up a healthy home win.

St Kilda vs Fremantle

One of the toughest games to call of the weekend lies on the horizon here, as St Kilda and Fremantle square off, in what should be an intriguing tie in the eyes of many punters and AFL betting sites. For the Saints, responding to a tough loss to Hawthorn will be their key objective here, as they look to mount a purposeful playoff bid. Meanwhile, Fremantle were thumped by Sydney last time out and they too need to respond. This is a tough one to call, with St Kilda perhaps having enough in the tank to collect the win.

Essendon vs North Melbourne

A return to the glory years looks to be on the cards for Essendon, who are surging up the AFL table and next up is a visit from basement dwellers North Melbourne. For the Bombers, picking up results and staying in touch of the teams above them is their principle aim this season and they look to be well placed to challenge for at least a playoff spot. Meanwhile, North Melbourne are winless through the campaign so far and they look to be bereft of confidence. Essendon will prevail here; it is just a case of how many they win by.

Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn

Port Adelaide will be looking to continue in their pursuit of momentum in the playoff push, as they host Hawthorn. It is clear that Port haven’t hit the heights of last season, but they remain a seriously dangerous side and should they make the playoffs, who knows how far they can go in 2024. By the same token, Hawthorn dug deep to beat St Kilda last weekend and whilst they haven’t been pulling up any trees this term, they still have time to string some results together and push for the top 8. This will be a good one, with Port Adelaide perhaps most likely to nick it at home.

West Coast vs Melbourne

An improving West Coast side have their sternest test in a while on the cards here, as they take on a Melbourne side that are starting to really tick in the AFL. For West Coast, staying out of the wooden spoon conversation will be their aim this season and who knows if they can even push on towards the playoffs as the campaign pans out. Meanwhile, Melbourne are a side with plenty of fire power and they will be bang up for this challenge. This should be a very good one, with Melbourne good value for the win on paper.
