Leicester City sit on the brink of an EPL return
Leicester City will be looking to secure their Premier League status as quickly as possible this season
News Insights
- 2016 Premier League champions Leicester City are tearing up the Championship.
- Enzo Maresca’s side have a 6-point lead on the chasing pack.
- The Foxes have, however, lost their last two Championship games.
- Leeds United and Ipswich Town are leading the chasing pack behind.
Whilst the days of Claudio Ranieri winning the Premier League at Leicester City feel a long time ago, the Foxes are still huge draw with both domestic and international betting sites.
However, Leicester are currently in the Championship, and they are engineering their route back into the Premier League.
Following a desperate end to the 2023 season following the departure of Brendan Rodgers, Leicester City looked to be in need of some inspiration in the Championship.
That has very much arrived in the form of former Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca and the Foxes have been the Bonafede side to beat in England’s second tier this term.
Promotion remains their key aim though and with 12 games to play this season, Leicester City are in pole position to be promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Enigmatic Enzo
Part of the problem endured by Leicester City last season in the Premier League was how their goals dried up at key times but under Enzo Maresca, the Foxes have been banging the goals in.
70 goals scored from 34 games played is a sensational record for Leicester City and manager Enzo Maresca has been insistent that his side look to play on the front foot this season.
Alongside the talismanic Jamie Vardy, the likes of Patson Daka and Stephy Mavididi have been revelations at the King Power Stadium this season and Leicester are an attacking force to be reckoned with.
Fighting off the suitors
In being relegated to the Championship last season, Leicester inevitably lost a few key players to other clubs, with Youri Tielemans heading to Aston Villa, Harvey Barnes transferring to Newcastle United and James Maddison moving to Tottenham.
However, should the Foxes manage to get promoted this season, holding on to their prize assets will be one of their main aims, as they seek Premier League security.
The likes of Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall and James Justin will be courted by plenty of sides but if they can hold on to key players, Leicester will be expected to stay up with many EPL punters and online betting sites.
Can they be caught?
Whilst naysayers will say it is only the Championship, Leicester City have been imperious this season and their fate is 100% in their own hands.
However, it is not over until it is over and both Leeds United and Ipswich Town are within 6 points off the Foxes at the top of the Championship table.
The likes of Southampton and West Bromwich Albion are looking to make claims in pursuit, but Leicester remain the team to beat in the Championship this season.
Gaining promotion from the Championship to the Premier League is always a big deal and since being demoted last season, Leicester City have been the favourites to win the Championship title with punters and online betting sites alike.
Whilst there is still plenty of football to be played, Leicester have been hugely impressive this term and they look set to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
